Vivid Housings Leak Sentinel V6 custom install

I currently have a sea frogs housing for my RX100 VII. It does come with leak detection, however after having the odd small leak from either grit in the o-rings or the button o-rings requiring a clean, I tend to find I don't really notice the onboard moisture detection systems beep or small LED...

    Garmin Descent MK2

The SSI app is crap anyway. Subsurface for the win, although to import from Garmin is a manual file copy process from my experience (Descent G1) over usb, but it doesn't really bother me too much as I just copy them over 5-10 at a time. We asked SSI at a recent feedback meeting regarding...

New Garmin Dive Computer: Descent G1

Solution: change the display to battery % instead of the horribly inaccurate "battery time remaining" estimation the G1 displays by default. I wear my G1 solar as a daily watch and dive regularly, it uses between 5-10% per dive, and my dives are long dives, around 1-1.5 hours (in comparison to...

PFO - Diving with more conservatism, specifically CCR

Thanks for the dive log. I had also carried out some dive planning regarding the rebreather and could see that descending below a certain depth (dependant on setpoint) would result in a higher PPN2 than for example a 32% Nitrox mix. Hopefully I can try the rebreather again with the added...

PFO - Diving with more conservatism, specifically CCR

Thanks for the replies everyone. I had also considered that the symptoms of PFO were usually reported either on ascent, or very shortly after surfacing. I'm also aware that it's not an exact science, so I'm keeping an open mind in that regards. Usually, I'm fine on the dive, but I start to...

PFO - Diving with more conservatism, specifically CCR

Thanks for the replies so far. As mentioned previously, I don't want this to turn into another topic discussing PFOs - those topics already exist on ScubaBoard. If you are all curious about my symptoms - it's mostly been feeling tired / ill after diving, and more recently aching joints. I have...

PFO - Diving with more conservatism, specifically CCR

I've spoken to the odd member (and experts) about this already via PM, but wanted to ask a wider audience about their experiences as I couldn't see this specific question being asked. After visiting the chamber multiple times with DCS issues, I finally carried out a bubble study the other day...

Diving 32% Nitrox with "Air" Algorithms

Holy-thread-argument! :giggle: I read through some of this thread, but not all of it. Interestingly I was having this conversation with DAN, in the interests of diving more conservatively, they recommend (as part of other items) diving with two computers running the same algorithm, but one is...

    Wanted: Choptima (Optima CM)

Hello, As the title says, looking to buy a Choptima, complete with Nerd2. I don't need the O2 bottle, but would need to see the list of options and the usual details such as hours on the unit etc. SL

blacktip > is the warranty any good ?

Are they really that complicated inside that a local appliance technician couldn't take a look at the circuit boards for any potential electrical issues? Was always under the assumption the DPV was pretty straight forward inside, the sealing from the pressure being the complicated bit from an...

Subsurface not working out SAC on sidemount dives

You shouldn't need to do a gas switch. I run my Teric with sidemount mode enabled. Not only does it give me accurate SAC during the dive, but also Subsurface shows my SAC once I select the tank size. No need for gas switches or anything. Edit: I'm running Subsurface on Windows, and the...

Diving with EN50 to 6m (max) for 40 minutes or less - no nitrogen saturation?

Thanks for the reply. With regards to the risk, it's always there regardless of depth. After posting this question I stumbled across this if you're sick after a dive, take it seriously Stay safe

Diving with EN50 to 6m (max) for 40 minutes or less - no nitrogen saturation?

I'm curious on opinions about this thought experiment, both in theory and in practice. Ignoring oxygen toxicity and CNS exposure for now, if we look at the partial pressure of N2 when diving EN50, we can see that the partial pressure of N2 reaches 0.8 bar at a depth of approximately 6m (19.6 ft...

    Argonaut Kraken HP seat failure...?

I too had issues with the IP spiking, resulting in the octopus beginning to free flow as a tell tale sign. The HP seat had similar markings (see photos below). I went through three OEM HP seats in total, over about 130 dives total. Two were brand new and one was a an old spare I had lying around...

    Rx100 Vii with 60m (200ft?) housing

Interestingly, I contacted Salted, regarding the depth rating and they got back to me already. Basically after 10m the mode dial pushes down on the camera, shifting it down a little inside the housing, meaning some of the buttons don't align properly, that's why they list it as not all functions...

    Rx100 Vii with 60m (200ft?) housing

Thanks for the info @Barmaglot The GH5/s, A6600 and A7 III are all significant price hikes over a used Rx100 VII here in south east Asia. Not to mention the housings jump up in price too. Import duty is also an issue (basically doubling the price of camera housing when importing) - though the...

    Rx100 Vii with 60m (200ft?) housing

Hey All, I loaned a TG-6 from a friend with the 60m housing and have been shooting 4K video with it for some time. I found however, the battery runs out far too fast on video, and the 5 minute 4K record limit is very annoying since I sometimes leave it recording and swim to the front of the...

    Garmin Descent MK2

Interesting point, it hadn't occurred to me that Garmin's "Exiting N2 Loading" and Shearwater's "End Surface GF" might be two different things entirely. I'd assumed they were the same thing since the Surface GF doesn't seem to show anywhere in the Garmin dive app (dive log), only Exiting N2 loading.

    Garmin Descent MK2

Note that SurfGF on the Garmin is not calculated in the same way as Shearwater. I dive both a Descent G1 and Shearwater Teric. At the end of an example dive, the Teric showed a surface GF of 16%, whilst the G1 showed 42%. Identical GF and settings on both computers. When I checked the dive...
