Where do you dive during the winter months?

Anytime. Anywhere. Any temp. I am fortunate however. Where I work I have a heated 30' in diameter by 24' in depth tank to dive in whenever I want. Only downside is, you really feel for fish in an aquarium, because you know exactly how they feel.

    Bouyancy charts

Advice I'd give you is to dive everything you intend to wear on your dive, dive it IN THE POOL. I know you'll look like weird, but it's much better than slapping on what lead you think you'll need and not being able to get under easily (happened to me on my first OW training dive). The amount of...

    I have no idea...

Here at work we use the Protons as our instructor/staff regs and I've got to say that I've had no complaints. Nice low profile, good performance despite some teething issues when they were first introduced. My only complaint is that due to their small size, exhaust bubbles will wind up smack dab...

    Which regulator for rec diving

My $0.02 worth is go with the MR22 Abyss. Solid as a rock performance and breeze to repair. NASA uses them at the NBL exclusively. One of the critera they had was that the reg had to be able to be cleaned in an industrial dishwasher. (I guess those guys and gals in houston are too lazy to clean...

    Just wondering

While I am very familiar with the "Redneck Riviera," I feel that this monicer is a little misleading. While one need only visit Vortex one mildy warm weekend to see what I speak of, I've found that Panama City, et. al., is a far better place to go. Most of the good springs are withing an...

    Just wondering

It was around Memorial Day last year. A group of us that work/volunteer at the UAT made our annual trip to Panama City to dive. We elected to stay at Vortex, dive at Morrison Springs one day, dive in PC the next, then ride home. In all we stayed at Vortex for 4 days and 3 nights. We'd booked one...

    Where to stay in Pensacola

Planning our little group outing for late spring and considering Pensacola rather than Panama City Beach this year. WILL be going to Pensacola once the Oriskany is sunk (I called Miss Cleo). Wondering if anyone knows of the best place for a group of 6-12 divers to stay. In PCB we stay at the...

    The great Mask Defog Thread

I've got agree with ScubaK-Dawg on this one. We use the same mixture here at the UAT and we've never had an ounce of trouble with foggy masks. Nor have we ever had a trainee complain about the mix hurting theirs eyes. It's also a health thing here. Sure our tank is chlorinated, but having...
