I use Beuchat brass & glass for backgas and the oceanic plastic for stages. I want every ounce I can get off my stages. I would like to have the Uwatec for BG but the price (if you can find one) is steep.

Most people who cave dive use O2 for deco and most are not "certified" for it. You can get an O2 bottle filled at any "cave" shop in N FL and never be asked for a card of any kind much less an Adv. Nitrox card. I took Adv. Nitrox so I wouldn't have trouble getting (or being permitted to use)...

Also the Cave 1 swim is not in a pool. It's at Ginnie Springs from the steps to the ball above Devil's Ear. Not sure how many laps but I know several people who've done it and said it wasn't that hard. If you practice some before hand and aren't in terribly bad shape it shouldn't be too hard...

I did Nohoch in August and we still had to walk... There was a road but it was not good enough for our van to make it up to the cenote. They must have done a LOT of work on it in the few months since I was there. I wouldn't worry about it becomming too commercialized, there are lots of cenotes...
