    Yet another Michigander

Welcome aboard! Site's easy enough to figure out...just read until you find something of interest to you, then post. ;) Best of luck with your certification. There is plenty of great diving right here in the midwest, as long as you suit up accordingly for water temps. Happy diving! :D

    Creation vs. Evolution

Reread my post. One sect of one religion in particular excludes science and all other religions. The rest of the religions and science do not exclude eachother or that particular religion, except to the extent that that religion excludes itself.

    Creation vs. Evolution

*shrug* When I go, I'm going to have a nice long sit-down conversation with God, Allah, The Great Spirit, Zeus, Thor, Gaia, Baal, Ra, Amateratsu, and a whole bunch of their friends. I'll get to hear about how cute the humans are when they make up these stories to explain answers to questions...

    Movie: Open Water 2

I wonder if they scored another gratuitous nude shot....

    Creation vs. Evolution

It depends...would it be a "big bang" type of explosion, or will it take place over 6 days, with the 7th spent in a lounge chair watching the last pieces fall into place? :D

Kill any giant/interesting sealife you find?

LOL Thankfully, reintroduced wolves are doing well in Wisconsin. They still have a LONG way to go, but it is a start... Plesiosaurs? Megalodons? I think you'll have a hard time pulling that one off... :D

Kill any giant/interesting sealife you find?

As has been stated numerous times already, the squid was near death from the ascent to 1 ATA. It was not going to survive. Your first post also states that you're not a tree hugger, but the attitude of your post above would certainly lead one to believe otherwise. So let me get this...

Kill any giant/interesting sealife you find?

You're a few years behind (and haven't read the whole thread). 2004, a giant squid was captured on film in its natrual environment, by following sperm whales. A camera was lowered to close to 3000 ft, with a bait rig attached. The squid took the bait in front of the camera, and snagged a...

    What was I waiting for?

Welcome aboard! If you ever happen up towards the Great Lakes, shoot me a line and I'll dive with ya'! :)

    Giant squid - again

Wish it did...might solve world hunger that way... Everything I've read says it is loaded with amonia. Thanks, but I'll stick with the little guys, with a little lemon juice and some cocktail sauce. :D

Kill any giant/interesting sealife you find?

Well, the species in question on this thread, the squid, as stated numerous times, is clearly NOT endangered. Even though we haven't seen them swimming around in schools of hundreds, or catch them on more than rare occasions, there is not a sperm whale in the ocean over a few years old that...

Yes, Virginia, there really is a huge squid

Yep...in a King Kong vs. Godzilla kind of a way....I'd venture to say the sperm whale is King Kong from our vantage point... :D

    Bubble Check Problem

Depends on the make of the reg. Some first stages "bleed" a little bit in the normal function of the reg. If it is a yoke reg, could be a little leak from the O-ring. Should probably get out and replace O-ring, but know plenty of people who just dive it and re-examine it when kitting up for...

Kill any giant/interesting sealife you find?

See, now...there you go with your assumptions again. Nothing mounted on the walls, and the largest I have caught was a 5 lb largemouth. I eat or release everything I catch. Kind of like your assumption that the colossal squid is endangered or that we hare harming the species by hauling...

Yes, Virginia, there really is a huge squid

Species isn't excacly new....or newly discovered. Colossals are actually considerably better known to us than Archeteuthus. They have been washing up on beaches and turning up in fishing nets for a long time now. It is just this last one that happened to have gotten hauled up alive... ;)

LOL I guess it had to happen sometime, Bob... :D

Kill any giant/interesting sealife you find?

Again, reading beyond the headline would help you a great deal. The fishermen were not engaging in a behavior I would condone. However, it had nothing to do with the squid. They were actually catching Chilean Sea Bass, an endangered species. The Colossal Squid came along and chowed down on...
