    Fitting my Zeagle Ranger?

Jehosaphat, the LDS can be just a problematical. Remember the old vaudeville and TV act,"Are You Being Served?"; this is where the tailor slips a coat on the customer and then begins to pull on the back and yank down the front and ends by saying "it'll wear in with time". I should have known...

    Apeks ATX50 vs. Poseidon Cyklon

Those little ATX regulators are bubble machines. Will give a bit of a chin flapping. I would get a TX second stage or go over to the Jetstream side breather.

    fins for dislocated ankles

M-D, it might be a problem finding a split fin that fits your small foot. Also, splits come in different flavors, some are stiffer or heavier than others. However, the ones made of soft rubber will certainly relieve strain and perform really well, if you can get fitted. I don't know anything...

HP vs. LP / High Pressure versus Low Pressure steel tanks

PST's galvanized HP tanks are almost too good to be true. That's why nobody outside the USA can duplicate them. The only trim problem I've seen is running before a current. The flow sometimes pushes up under your legs and creates a slight lift. Weight belt takes care of it.

I tried my new BP/Wings this weekend and had some problems- HELP!!!(REALLY REAL LONG)

I second netdoc's statements. Absolutely first rate account, objective and most informative. Also humorous, do you write for Comedy Central or something? Anyway, good luck with the bat wings, and if anybody can figure it out, I'd bet on you.

    Apekx TX100 Service Manual

Check out this site: http://www.deeperstuff.com/ From what I've heard, the 200 innards are the same as the others, and ATX's are generic.

    Crotch-strap question

Yeah, I guess the only belt which would be sufficiently compact would be a custom make with gold or uranium weights(G). Shadow, the crotch strap terminates in a loop on both ends. The loops are formed by slide buckles. These are small metal slides with two or more slots, a common marine item...

    Sea Lice/ Thimble Jellies

That's easy, free flow creates giant bubbles which look like bigger jellyfish, scaring the little larvae away.

How Low can U GO ?

I hope that this speculation is related to diving. At 0.0 psi, the blood would boil. As I said before, humans cannot adapt to breathing air at altitudes above 25000 feet(about 7psi), that is the limit for functioning at a normal level. It is possible for adapted or non adapted humans to go...

    Dive Boats....What is best??

Coastie, it sounds like you have a challenge ahead of you. Buying the boat is the easy part. Having said that, there are benefits to owning your own boat. You set your own agenda including the departure/return times, where to dive and how to dive. Screw the cattle boats. I recommend a 24...

    Crotch-strap question

Shadow, looking at my Masterlift Equalizer there is a small slot on the bottom of the plastic pac. It is almost unnoticable but it is there for attachment of a strap. You need a piece of one inch webbing about 3 feet long, and two small slides or buckles. These are common mil. surplus items or...

How Low can U GO ?

Vacuum tests are pretty gruesome. I don't know if the data gathered by the SS physicians are still available but they dropped human subjects to near zero. If the gradient is not too steep, the subject would just become unconscious. I think this has occurred with decompression in aircraft. Not...

    SeaQuest Black Diamond

The Balance and Zeagle Scout appear to be well designed. We've come a long way (see the thread on the history of BC's) but it's hard to find a practical BC: http://www.scubaboard.com/t8161/s.html Lately, progress has been measured in double bags, pockets, rings, padding and weight...

    Purge valve masks

The mfgs are probably using silicone valves now, and they should last. I don't use a purge, my everyday mask is a SP Frameless. Most folks use the nose pocket to equalize if they need help but I sometimes press on the mask body to generate posititive pressure, and this method can't be done with...

What BC do you dive most often?

I use a Seaquest Dimension 3D acquired in 1994. This is a back inflate with expanding gussets or panels. It is for single tank only. Normally, without air, it fits like a glove, no drag at all. When you look at someone in a black suit wearing this black BC it is difficult to perceive that the...

    Dir

DIR is a good system for cave diving. The purpose of a buddy is tied to the fact that it takes two to supply mutual psychological reinforcement. I can't imagine anything lonelier than a DIR diver without a buddy.

    Scuba source/Air II on Halcyon?

Joe, you need to concentrate on getting those scallops and stop fretting whether you are "DIR" or not. Go with the Scubasource. Lose the silly Y valve and get rid of some of the complexity. Running out of air is unlikely but some practice or prearranged procedures might be in order, in other...

Can Breath Holding exercises build strong lungs??

I agree on the CO2, if any of these kids start to approach six minutes breath hold time somebody better raise a flag, or sign them up.

    Diving and Epilepsy

A benefit of a socialist society like ours is that everyone is responsible for you and me. If you screw up, we ante up. Unfortunately, that is also interpreted as giving society the right to tell you what you can and can't do, mainly because we wish to limit payouts for any consequences which we...
