    Water Temps?

Saturday, 52 degrees at Back Beach. Sunday, 48 degrees at Chester Poling wreck. Also 48 degrees at 2nd site, I think it was Pickett's Ledge or something like that.

When have you called a dive and why?

I don't have many dives yet. But one sticks out in my memory. It was a boat dive to a planned max depth of about 60 feet. I was descending the anchor line with my buddy. When I hit about 20 feet, my mask completely flooded. No big deal. Stopped and cleared it. It instantly reflooded...

    BARE Dry glove system

Hmmm. This has been an interesting thread. I just placed my drysuit order with my lds yesterday for a Bare Trilam HD Tech. Can't wait. I'd been planning on ordering the Diving Concepts snap-on dryglove system. Now, after reading this thread, I'm inclined to, instead, order the Bare...

    Bare Drysuit Questions

Thank you for all of the input so far. It's interesting and helpful. For those mentioning the boots as their preference, did they fit in your existing fins or did you need to change fins for the boots to fit in? Thanks. Michael

    Bare Drysuit Questions

I'm inclined to order a Bare Trilam HD Tech drysuit. I'll probably place the order within the next day or two. I'm wondering if people who have purchased Bare drysuits in the past would do anything differently (lessons learned) when it comes to the choices about seals, gloves, footware or...

    Cook out/picnic at Portland quarry!

Must have been fun. Too bad I had to miss it. Went out-of-town for most of the weekend. But on a positive note, I'm thinking about buying a drysuit which will help with those chilly quarry temperatures.... Michael

Mashapaug Pond - Bigelow Hollow in CT

I've been in both. The quarry is MUCH better. Michael

Mashapaug Pond - Bigelow Hollow in CT

I've gone diving here. I didn't like it. It's a terribly long walk from the parking area to the dive entry area. I thought there were a couple mildy interesting areas to explore while diving but found it to be, for the most part, a boring mud pit. Sorry to be a naysayer. Michael

    DUI FLX50/50 drysuit

I'm considering a drysuit as well and have been thinking about these issues. Which half do you think is the best?

    Mistake thread......

A night dive in a cove in Massachusetts. I was sort of tagging along with a group. I'd already had quite a few dives in this cove including night dives. Relatively shallow dive. Vis between 5 and 15 feet during the course of the dive. We were on the way back to shore when I became...

Dutch Springs - Saturday April 29th

Hey folks. I'm from Connecticut but I'll be visiting my in-laws in New Jersey this coming weekend. I'd like to plan some diving for Dutch Springs for this Saturday, April 29th, and I need a buddy. Any takers? Michael

    Almost an accident

Mike, being a newer diver myself, I often try to imagine different scenarios where I might have problems staying with my buddy. Suppose you and your buddy make it back to the line together in some current and are ascending on the line when your buddy, for whatever good or bad reason, releases...

    Good dive ops in Cozumel

Alex, my wife and I had a great experience diving with Christi's Cozumel dive op called Blue XT Sea Diving. I wrote a trip report last year and you can refer to it for some details: http://www.scubaboard.com/showthread.php?t=86797. Their website is: http://bluextseadiving.com/. Hope...

What dive op do you use...

No. Book with one of the recommended local operators. I personally prefer Christi's operation because I had such a good experience with it. They'll pick you right up at your pier at FA, so it could not be any more convenient. Michael
