To those considering an OW class...

I agree with wreck wrench. I think that the 2+2 class could be something like $300 for the course and the longer class could be like $150. So since the longer class is cheaper, most people would opt more for that (in diving money is always an issue). I think that the the skills that are being...

Well, I'll be the trail diver for it, I have often thought about diving it, but always thought was a stupid thought and people would make fun of me. But I'm glad i'm not the only one that has thought of it.

    Quarry trained Divers

well i was certified in a north florida spring with gin clear water. so i could understand if they were saying it with that aspect. But from what i understand about quarries, is that they are a lot like the north florida springs minus the viz. With the lower amount of viz, it would be make the...

    Which One?

Yup I would suggest the BP/W, but the zeagle's are great BCDs. It all depends what you prefer whether its back inflation or jacket. I would suggest if you decide on a back inflation i would get the BP/W they are more versatile and a lot easier to customize.

    Decompression

Basically, you don't want to end up in a decompression chamber, they are expensive. It all depends on how deep you go and for how long. you can even be at 10 feet and have to decompress. Now when you talk to people that participate in decompression dives, they dive down to their depth for how...

    The long hose fallacies

Good Post, but a few things to change. Yes it can be worn by newly certified OW, but it doesn't have to be on a BP/W system. I dove mine with a ranger for years. The main reason why the 7 ft hose came about was when your in penetrating in a cave or a wreck, and you have to go single file, the...

    So what Specialty next.

Go dive, because some of the certs you'll go after (Intro to Cave i know in particular) requires a demonstration of your skills. Yes you may have all the cards to take ie Intro to Cave, but most likely won't have the skill level. I myself have 300 or so dives under my belt, and still had trouble...

    Question on equipment service

all i know is that I am very picky on who services my regs, if I don't do it than there are only 3 other people that I will let. I'm not exactly sure what the class is, but I believe that each manufacture puts on their own class.
