I third the Jets. Mine are actually my father's old fins about 25 years old. Recently I had one of the foot pockets tear. So this summer I think I'm gonna pick up the OMS style jets. They are the same fin, made out of a different material which is much lighter.
You do not need a computer to dive. Although they are very nice. I like the D9 but not the price tag. I would go with the DR Duo. But if you are getting into trimix, then that computer isn't worth a flip. Then you need to strive for a trimix computer if you want a computer that will handle all...
When I dive with stages or deco gas, i charge them and turn them off. But when i dive with those, i drop them so they have a chance to fall and could make it free flow. But if you dive with it slung on you at all times I dont think there is anything wrong with keeping the valve on
Trying not to put the poster down, but YOU NEED TO GO THROUGH THE CERT FIRST. Nitrox gives you a higher partial pressure of Oxygen. Pure Oxygen becomes toxic at 20 ft. Yes you just grab the tank and breathe same as air, but since nitrox has a higher partial pressure of oxygen, there is a limit...
I heard about a cave diving fatality near the Layfette Blue system in Mayo, Florida. Was wondering if anyone knows anything more about this, or if its even true. Anyhow, if it is true my prayers go out to the family and friends of the diver.
I'm trying to remember what the solution is to O2 clean tanks with. I know its only like 2 capfuls of the solution and then the rest is water. I'd appreciate it if someone can tell me what the solution is.
Thanks
I dive a BP/W or a back-inflation bc. They have a pull dump on the bottom left side, my dive profiles are usually bounce around in depth because of the cave system. I find that in a horizontal position, I can control the amount of air to be let out of my bladder much more efficent with the pull...
This is what I would do.
1. personal gear, mask fins, wetsuit etc
2. regs (I personally would stay away from the air2 type systems)
3. BCD by now you hopefully have tried different systems
4. computer or tanks (although I would go with the computer because tanks are cheap to rent, and you then...
I used to have the same prolem. I would skip breathe and get headaches. I then started singing a random song or even one that I was making up. It forced me to exhale consitently and take rather smaller intakes, and then after a while of doing that I was able to stop singing and still have good...
I wanted to go to the Boy Scout Florida Sea-base camp. My parents then told me they would send me once i got my eagle scout. and then i saw a photo shoot Skin Diver magazine and was hooked. Took my OW class and started working in a Dive Shop, been hooked ever since
I had an experience like that in west palm beach. the DM kept pulling and gliding on the sand, i ended up saying screw this and surfacing. made the captain redrop me, and i landed up current on the bow and was able to drift down the rest of the wreck. was a great dive
