Is this a good price for halcyon BP/Wing ?

I'm interested in a 36#. I found a guy by total accident that has a "complete" 36# Pioneer for $430 plus shipping. This is copied form the email I got: The complete system...or BC....consists of the Backplate and harness, Pioneer (or Explorer for doubles) wing, and backplate pad/storage...

    PADI Inadequacies

Although I respect your position, I disagree. I too was made aware of the consideration of diving at altitude in a PADI course in '90. I was also taught decompression theory in a Y course in '71. I get the impression that many who took any diving instruction at that time did. But what has...

    Aquariums...

if it really qualifies, but I have three linked ponds with about +/-250 gals that make up a little biosystem. A real B*#th to get started, but pretty much self regulating now.

    Deep Air survey

Along with many of the other statistics you cite. I didn't get to read all of this thread, but went back a few pages. It absolutely amazes me how persistent the concept is that the skill level of the general divng public is even moderately adequate. I am by no means a "very experienced"...

    Po2?

That must be one of those watered down bar martinis, not one of those I make for my wife on Friday afternoon! But I'd agree that it's an individual thing. Not so much that the effect isn't there, but the indivual ability to deal with the effects. As for PO2's, as was mentioned...

Guide for Big guys (and gals) for diving

I have to agree being relaxed in the water has as much (if not more) to do with air consumption than size. I'm 6'-1", +/-215. I dive mostly rented al80's. When we're on vacation, I can get as much bottom time as almost everyone on the boat, and have air left over. Especially on a drift...

    Check out this antique...

I resemble that remark! Mask fits fine. It's just that brush under my nose. Tried shaving it off once (at about 16 years of being married, and always having it.) Walked out of the bathroom...one look she said grow it back! Now going on 23 years. And the water works just fine to defog...

Advantages of Wrist Mount Computer vs Console

Palm down. Seems to get drug across other stuff more the other way. May just be that I'm used to a wristwatch and developed an instinct be more careful with wearing it that way. It's definitely easier to read the other way, but....? The conditioned respone thing, I guess.

    What kind of computer?

I have a Stinger that's about 15 months old, albeit with only +/-40 dives on it. Still shows a full battery charge. All 4 bars when it does the pre dive check. I think I read that it's more like 2 yrs, or a couple hundred dives. How many dives in that year?

Help in my quest to be removed from techdiver mailing list

So did I. With a domain name like that, I jsut had to see if it was there. Not to mention the mental images of what you'd expect to find there! But I do the smae thing with a domain name that I can manage the email. Just about down to nothing in terms of spamming.

    life after death for divers?

I decided years ago that it wasn't going to be the standard casket for me, but that ellicits some confused considerations.

    question about new scubapro bc?

Couldn't agree more. I dive a back inflate. Lot easier to trim out. Have yet to try the BP/Wing thing yet, though.

    Safety Sausage on a BC

That was the first thing I though about when I watched it. No way I'd be taking that kind of equipment and not have a way to clip it off. On topic, though. Just doesn't look like something I'd want. I try to keep as much stuff off my BC as I can . Just my opinion.

    Suunto Stinger and Vytec

Yeah, I know. I had to get the PC interface for the Cobra which is different than the Stinger's. Check around on the boards though. People make Suunto interfaces for a lot less. Don't know which units they work with though. I didn't know that the stopwatch didn't work underwater, but...

Advantages of Wrist Mount Computer vs Console

Wrist mount (stinger) I use most of the time. Console (cobra) I use for back up and AI. If I had to choos one though, probably a wrist in agreement with many here that it's generally more convenient to have the hand free and not holding the console.

    Suunto Stinger and Vytec

a Stinger with about 40 dives, and a Cobra with <5. I set them in EAN (Nitrox) mode and leave them there. I just took a look at the Stinger. It's been almost 60 days since it's been in the water ;-0, and initailizing the computer, it starts in EAN mode, which is where I set it last...

So, who carries a pocket mask?

more O/W Rescues session to get the rescue cert finalized, but we've done in water rescue breaths. We didn't use the Pocket mask, but rather "simulated" the MTM, with the emphasis on the timing and getting out of the rig. In retrospect, if the situation ever arises, I think I'll do it in...

The assimilation begins... Resistance seems futile

I feel your anguish... I ordered a long hose today. I finally thought through where/how I'm going to route it without a canister light. And also a set of Jets and springs straps to supplement my Zooms. They say the splits are banished from the class. And I've been sending PMs to the...
