    Functions of a dive guide

To handle the navigation, as in show me the typical hot spots. This would also mean the dive profile considering that one hot spot might be at 35ft, the other at 49ft, the next at 25ft and so on. The rest is my responsibility ......... but if they do it then it's just a bonus.

Wife doesn't want to dive anymore due to botched freeflowing reg incident

I was extremely comfortable with all the skills both in pool and open water but only because I was extremely comfortable in the water. On high school swim team I was a diver. I was a Water Safety Instructor and lifeguard. I would freedive to 30ft. Generally just very comfortable. I...

    Review: DRIS 28lb BP/W System

Looks like a really nice setup. No ditchable weights? What's the plan if the bladder croaks? So now you're on the surface, how are you maintaining positive bouyancy?

Minimalist gear setup? (that would double for travel)

Ah the compass. I'll add that. Most SPGs I've seen have depth gauge in addition to the PSI gauge. I bring a change of clothes with me so I can rinse off, change in the bathroom, then get in the car. Too lazy to go back and forth lol. I've tried wearing just my booties but its simply too hot.

Minimalist gear setup? (that would double for travel)

I figure a minimalist approach (which helps in traveling) meaning a day dive off a boat (which has tanks) in clear water within recreational limits. -Dive watch w/bezel, wetsuit/booties/gloves/fins/mask/snorkel, single tank on BC with integrated weights, SMB, with a small pocket for a Tec 40...

How different is Cozumel / Cayman diving from Key Largo diving?

Ok I went to Molasses Reef yesterday so I guess how do the Coz / GC hotspots compare to that? I was thinking a Friday out, Monday back type of thing.

Girlfriend has some concerns with breathing underwater.

Someone here posted a picture of themselves in their house with their mask on half-filled with water. I think that is a great acclimatization method. Tell her you know someone who can take their mask off at depth to blow their nose lol (that was me this past weekend), I'm sure many can do that.

How different is Cozumel / Cayman diving from Key Largo diving?

Right now those are my two location ideas for a long weekend dive trip. I've done a snorkeling trip in Roatan (Celebrity cruise) and was underwhelmed.

Diving with a watch. How to keep track of times?

I'm new, just recently certed, but the first thing that came to mind is that the dive plan has already been written down so you have the numbers. I would reset my bezel for each time frame, including the SI.

    Backplate and wing

I've been looking into this as well. 1- warm water 2- mostly local but would like to fly 3- semi Keep It Super Simple. I'd like to clip a light and a camera at least 4- I would like integrated weights 5- Plan on using single tank 6- sort of. I've learned that buying once = crying once and...

OW 1 is done. First dive to 48 feet, Benwood wreck, just a sightseeing dive. Then dive 2 to 36 feet, French Reef, mostly sightseeing, with some skills work thrown in; flooding and clearing mask, replacing regulator, buddy breathing. I got video for the first dive. ---------- Post Merged on...

    Fin Suggestions

I bought a pair of Mares Raptors today, moreso for the footpocket than their split fin-ness. My first open foot fin. Along with them I got a pair of DeepSee 2/3 hard sole boots. The whole footpocket/boot thing was a joy to use. I found the regular flutter kick to be powerful but...
