    Diving without a depth gauge

I dive with SPGs with no depth gauge other than my 2 computers, i guess i too could count to 300 and launch my DSMB while holding on to my 6m line which i marked. I think the question is, how much risk are you willing to take if shyte hits the fan. But i must add, although i don't use AIs, but...

    UK diving

I'm used to pretty shyte viz myself so it's more of experiencing what the UK has to offer and new experiences (cold water diving and quarries). just to add, i am used only to warm water diving and ok'ish viz. I can only assume that offshore diving requires a minimum number of participants, my...

    Backpack style duffel

Might have missed that out, anyways, it has to be able to be checked in an airline but no necessarily needed to fit in the overhead compartment. Cheers

Cool cool many thanks, more of my planning is in terms of cost at this moment. I’ll start contacting dive ops soon for a rough estimate on costs. Obviously factoring in visits to the pub would significantly increase expenditure :P

    Backpack style duffel

The Cruise Backpack is 1.5kgs as compared to 5Kgs on the Pro. Im guessing the non pro version would suit me very well, but the Pro is definitely tempting. The osprey looks cool indeed!

    Backpack style duffel

I have a trolley as my main bag so the backpack is a compliment to it. I've eyed the Cruise Backpack in the past, would it be possible to chuck it in an overhead compartment in an airplane?

    jacket style vs back inflation

The hydro is sort of a 'hybrid' BC whereas a BP/W would be something like a Halcyon/Dive rite setup. Have a look at Xdeep, they're great.

    jacket style vs back inflation

Welcome back, but take your time doing your research before getting something you might regret/not need later. I bought a ScubaPro Hydros Pro and was absolutely crazy about it, sold it a few months later for a proper BP/W. Did i regret it? no, was i slightly out of pocket? yes, was it avoidable...

    jacket style vs back inflation

Face planting the water was traumatizing only on the first few dives on a back plate for me, past that i just lay on my back as you mentioned and relax while all the jacket-ters bop up and down on the surface :D

    jacket style vs back inflation

Better trim, integrated weights, compact and more customization options in terms of setup. Thats what got me into back inflates, the trim alone was enough for me to change religions.
