    A meaningful dive ...

Thank you very much. Scuba has helped me through the grieving process - I have had many moments diving where I felt Jennifer's presence but none as strong as this dive.

    A meaningful dive ...

Thank you very much for everything Bob. Jennifer was an amazing young woman - always smiling or laughing. She truly loved life and enjoyed every moment. That's what I have tried to carry on through this journey of grieving. I couldn't have done this without the support of a lot of people -...

Article: Don't Worry - It Will Be OK

This is an excellent idea Bob! I may have to work with our shop here to implement something like that. We do a lot of trips to the quarry so new divers can get experience but I like the idea of a"Big Buddy" mentorship.

Article: Don't Worry - It Will Be OK

Thank you. I haven't jumped off the boat yet but it is something I've wanted to do for the last five years. I need to see the site, much like someone who has lost a loved one in a car accident goes to the site of the crash. My daughter was an amazing person and I do this in her memory. I...

Article: Don't Worry - It Will Be OK

You are welcome. My goal since her accident has always been to try to make this a safer sport for new divers. I wasn't a diver, so I learned everything I could about the sport and got certified. I work with OW students now so hopefully I've made a difference for one of them. ---------- Post...

Article: Don't Worry - It Will Be OK

Bill, I am also OK with it being printed and distributed. As Bob said, that's the whole reason I got certified and started down the path of "how can I make a change". Julie

Overcoming grief via SCUBA? My own thoughts.

Kat, I am so sorry for your loss. I too have had a child die - she died in a scuba accident almost 5 years ago. I became certified after her accident to learn more about the sport and to help me determine what, if anything, needed to be changed to make this a safer sport. Diving is one of the...

Diver missing at Cove 2, West Seattle

Does PADI do investigation when accidents happen during training? I read somewhere in this post that this is not the first death for this shop - that should throw a huge red flag up to PADI.

    Nemo Air battery cover

I'm leaving for Key Largo in a few days so I took the gear to the pool two weeks ago to make sure all was well. My Nemo Air is registering low battery so I took it to the shop to have it replaced. They had 4 techs try to get the cover off and it won't budge. They got it to the unlock point but...

    Nemo Air problems

Thanks Zak. I'll take it to the dealer because I didn't see how to update the computer firmware. I see a drak software but no hardware updates.

    Nemo Air problems

My Nemo Air is turning on and registering dives when not even connected to a tank. I just came back from the Keys and have 7 dives that were 0 minutes long, with depths ranging from 12 feet to 97 feet. One of my real dives registered the time and depth fine until the end when it says I went to...

    Nemo Air Recall?

I'm not having any problems with mine and it is so much easier to connect/disconnect now.

    Credit Card Foreign Transaction Fee

We have Bank of America cc's and debit cards. No fees on either when we were in Bonaire in August. We just went to Niagara Falls Canada and got charged fees on ALL transactions - didn't matter if they were put through as US or CAN or on the cc vs debit card. I didn't figure out what the % was...

Do you want to be a better diver?

This pretty much sums up how I feel. I love diving and feel that something can be learned and/or practiced on every dive.

    Accomplishments of 2009?

2009 - went diving at Grand Cayman to get hubby certified - Cozumel for my 50th dive with my daughter on my 50th birthday - Bonaire just because it is an awesome place to dive and of course Dutch Springs for a total of 60+ dives :) - took Rescue and a few other PADI specialties then got my...

Do VT3 (complete) come with no lens protector?

I ordered the bungee mount from Deep Sea Supply. The watch wrist band would loosen up too much and I almost lost the computer but the bungee keeps it tight. https://www.deepseasupply.com/index.php?product=1334

Cozumel Trip Report - Scuba with Alison

I dove with Alison in June and have another trip planned for January. Alison and her divemasters (Orlando and Carlos) are awesome. Safety is high on their list of concerns. I really liked that we got to dive our computers - one of my dives was 80 minutes. We were a group of 8 so we filled up her...
