    Ongoing discussion of Ratio Deco

I know I’m a little off topic here… But, I wouldn’t shake my head at Haldane’s contributions in developing the dissolved gas model. Remember, it was Haldane who established the concept of “tissue” compartments, and “ascent limiting criteria”. Then other scientists built upon this work, Workman...

    Ongoing discussion of Ratio Deco

Here are some possible reasons to use Deco Planner or VPM: 1) Planning repetitive dives (also repetitive dives over several days) 2) A validation of a profile outside a divers range of experience i.e. sanity check 3) If a dive team wants to experiment with different gradient factors 4) A...

So who is this AG fella causing all this trouble?

Yea, but I thought George was the last Prophet...Hey, in which direction are we supposed to pray, Wakulla or Monterey?

    Case for Halycon 9/18 Light

I recommend the same method. I like to carry it on, along with my regs. Then you know it makes it on the plane with you; the battery looks real suspicious and draws in TSA:11: . I've found the pelican case is too heavy and bulky for air travel. Take care, Chris

Law of primacy in effect...I guess they just don't care. Chris

Are deep stops required when monkey diving? Just curious... Chris

    Ongoing discussion of Ratio Deco

Deep stops aren't unique to Ratio Deco, every GUE trained diver applies deep stops when required. We also apply deepstops, oxygen window, S-curves and dissolved gas theory during our deco. We use the software to generate a total time on a particular gas, and then apply the various theories to...

    Halcyon vs ScubaPro

I like the larger Halcyon (or Clone) gauge for back gas; and I like the small Scuba Pros for deco/stage bottles, if you can find them. (I think Cressi Sub makes an equilivent though) Chris

    Ongoing discussion of Ratio Deco

amascuba, I was only questioning rjack's comment. Like I said before, I've used ratio deco effectively, and for certain profiles will continue its use. I just have more faith in a deco program backed by science. Take care, Chris

    Ongoing discussion of Ratio Deco

I'm not arguing if one method is more conserative or not. Just that Ratio Deco is not consistent; If you take Ratio Deco to its set point extremes you'll find even greater inconsistencies, at least at the T1 level. BTW, every DIR diver I know modifies the shape of the ascent and adds in deep...

    Ongoing discussion of Ratio Deco

I don't have access to the program at the moment, But just run some common T1 profiles with 30/85 GF and compare for yourself. Chris

    Ongoing discussion of Ratio Deco

Really? This is not what I've observed. Ratio deco may "work", but it's no substitute for real decompresion software. BTW, I do use ratio deco, however I don't blindly trust it. Chris

KUDOS to DM Laura and the SunDiver Captains and crew

Hey Lori, I think you should make a new rule: No more pouring cold water on the DM. (Make Milo hand you his fins before he climbs up the ladder.) See you on Sunday, Chris

    Non-DIR in a DIR world

Hey Joel and Mike, it was good to meet you guys; DIR or not,we share a common love for being underwater. I'd dive with you guys anytime. Take care, Chris

    Deep Diving

Ruse for debate? Starboard Tack said he is not DIR; why would he bring up a "ruse for debate"? Starboard Tack never suggested a diver "go deeper" than trained. Be mindful of your implications. Sounds like he's just trying to give the OP "good faith advice", give him break already. Dive...

    Monkey Diving - DIR ?

Tobin, I just don’t see the advantage your rig has over a single tank set up. I wish you luck in the niche industry of "Monkey Diving". Yea well… I guess you gotta watch what Al sez. ;) Nope, not at all. Just for the record, I’d like to add I have nothing personal with the...

    Monkey Diving - DIR ?

Tobin, Could you please provide more detail on this revolutionary breakthru in monkey diving. The type of monkey diving described by you is foreign to me. (nothing like the videos) How specifically do you route the hoses required for this type of diving? Can you provide photos? What do you...

    Monkey Diving - DIR ?

Hello Bob, I’ll quote from a post made by Tobin, in the “Tour de coves” thread,…(located in the SoCal DIR forum) …and from his last post. Tobin/DSS is clearly challenging members to provide evidence supporting claims that monkey diving is not DIR. Is there...
