DCS due to reading computer wrong (I think)

Balogna. They're not trying to make it as safe as possible. If they were, they're wouldn't be solo divers diving without redundancy to 50 metres. Both the operation and the divers have responsibilities regarding safety. Notice that even the Dms weren't wearing twins.

DCS due to reading computer wrong (I think)

I wasn't there, so I won't judge it. But the organization does not sound as if was safe. for example, no assigned buddy teams. Did the divemasers have doubles?

Pony, doubles and cam bands for travel

Are you referring to the New Jersey divers who penetrated the Spiegel Grove a few years ago? Whoever they are, I'm sorry for the loss.

Pony, doubles and cam bands for travel

Fair point, Dandy Don. Maybe it's because I'm not fortuante enough to do dives like Truk as some of you do, but I just don't recall seeing pony bottles for rent at a lot of dive operations. Bringing them on airplanes is not a realistic option. So, if they're not reliably available, can we...

Diver Dies of heart attack in Cabo Feb.18th 2013

I could very well be wrong, but I believe that bucear may mean SCUBA dive, not snorkeling.

DCS due to reading computer wrong (I think)

Hintermann has repeatedly acknowledged that he made a mistake. He has repeatedly accepted responsibility for what happened. Frankly, he did the dive community a favor by openly posting his account here on SB. Could we please treat our fellow diver with respect. Please. I wonder if the...

DCS due to reading computer wrong (I think)

Thank you for sharing your story, Hintermann. By posting your account here, you are helping other divers to dive safely. I am glad that you are okay. I suspect that your wife probably won't let you forget about this for a while. Please discount some of the impolite criticism that might get...

Reasons why you should not take a course through a dive shop

Personally, I think new divers can learn a lot from specialty classes, even shortclasses. I did.

Urgent Plea to Divers without Cave Training....

Unreal. The catacombs area a scary place. I can't imagine a recreational diver even wanting to go there. ---------- Post added February 17th, 2013 at 10:03 AM ---------- What group? What kind of gear were the divers wearing? Is your statement that the divers were wearing snorkels is...

Fatalities statistics: what kills people the most in scuba diving?

Forgive the possible ignorance of this question, please. I haven't read the DAN report. Do we know that the 144 divers would have lived if they had not run out of air? In other words, do we know that the air loss was the cause of the fatality? For example, a diver could have a heart attack...

Benwood is shallow. I think that this may be Rainbow Reef's first fatality.

    Hyperventilating at 110 feet

Jim, you have made this point before on this Board. I appreciate what you are saying. However, I do want to point out that it would be very understandable if new divers were to feel that they are expected to follow a dive boat's DM. Dive boats are not dcemocratic instituions. There's a...

    Hyperventilating at 110 feet

Violindad, thank you for posting. I'm glad everything worked out okay for you and your daughter. You handled things well. Pat yourself onteh back. Hyperventilation is a scary feeling - especially if yoiu don't know what's happening. Long ago, it happened to me, and I'll never forget it...

    The Down Current Killer

I am sorry to hear about your experience. Could you please confirm the statement above. That is, is it accurate to say that the victim's dive computer showed that the victim had reached a depth of 100 metres? When did this incident occur?

no safety stop after 53' dive

Shellski, Thank you for posting on this Forum. Welcome to the Dive World. I trust that you are still asymptomatic at this time. As other posters ahve said, you're probably going to be fine. However, I don't know what your dive profiels were like. Mistakes happen in diving. You have...
