    Before & After

That bell has everyone on this forum absolutely green with envy. Nice job. I've been diving some old steamboat wreck but can't seem to find a scrap of brass. I'm not sure if they were stripped down of machinery before they sank or what, but not so much as a valve??? I'll keep looking though.

    Cheap underwater metal dector

And if your visual search turns up nothing, sift through the mud bottom (assuming it's that) with your hands. They make a very cheap metal detector. Wear gloves though, as bare hands make a very effective broken glass detector. Be mentally prepared for the silt out that will result also.

    Ceramic Bottle Find

It definitely came off a potters wheel, I recognize that from my pottery classes in college. Also, it's not obvious in the photo, but it is dipped in glaze, as the bottom 1/4 inch of the sides is unglazed. My further internet search definitly confirmed your identification. You seem to be a great...

    Ceramic Bottle Find

It's about 6 inches to the shoulder. After some additional searching, I've confirmed that that type of bottle was indeed being used for ink, and have found some similar ones on ebay. It also confirmed that it is from the late 1800's. They don't seem to fetch much $$ , but I'm real happy with it.

    Ceramic Bottle Find

That's a pretty confident sounding and precise determination, any particular reference you used for that? All my ink bottle searches comes up with short squatty bottles, usually somewhat decorative.

    Ceramic Bottle Find

I found this ceramic bottle this weekend in the TN river near Chattanooga. No markings of any kind, but appears quite old and somewhat hand made, as there are lots of minor flaws, and the glazing looks hand dipped. Also, the bottom looks like it was cut off a potter wheel...

PBY Catalina Found in Lake Mead

"NPS SRCU team found a PBY this last December" Why are a bunch of guys getting paid to dive and explore, spending my tax money, at a time when National Parks are closing facilities and not maintaining trails and basic services? That whole SRCU team makes my blood boil. I think there...

    Atocha investors?

Also, most of the treasure they bring up now is in the form of emeralds. Very cool gemstone, but the they're not really being recovered by diving, but by bottom dredging and screening.

I'm driving down to Pensacola this weekend to buy a racing kayak, but was hoping to get a shore dive or two in. Anyone interested in meeting me? If so, PM me and we can exchange numbers as I won't have access to the computer after 4:00 today.

Whale Shark at GA Aquarium Dies...

I'm sure that there is some serious panic going on at the aquarium until the results of the necropsy determine whether the cause of death could affect the other animals (i.e. parasite, bacteria).

    Another Brown Coke

The brown Cokes have been known to get anywhere between 25 and 250 dollars depending on a million different factors. Bottle prices are a black art best I can tell.

    Freshwater Mystery Critter

Very odd indeed. Any reason you posted this in the Dixie Diver forum? You should post this in the Marine Life forum, they've been very helpful in identifying some of my mystery creatures.
