Time to replace the 1970s era, Fathom, 7mm Farmer John

I've been VERY happy with the BARE Evoke wetsuit I purchased not long after launch (in fact, I just left my 5mm down in Mexico to use when I dive down there...gives me an excuse to go visit more frequently). I've also had a few customers buy and were very happy with their Evokes and the...

Women and everything being heavy in scuba diving

No problems lifting heavy gear here. That scooter is easy 55 lbs. The doubles are more...and I've dove galvanized 108's with no issues. This girl can handle it. ;)

    What thickness wetsuit for Cenotes?

My husband and I go to Mexico almost every year. I usually bring a 5mm (dove a drysuit last year though), but a 3mm will probably be fine if you bring a hood and limit your dive time to minimize chill. Expect 74-77 degree waters depending on where you are diving in the Cenotes. In a 5mm I was...

Diving incident at Eagles Nest Sink

Well stated Ken, and I will leave those divers with this: em·pa·thy ˈempəTHē/ noun the ability to understand and share the feelings of another. My husband, as you read was one of those individuals....not only that, these were friends of ours. Can you imagine potentially having to recover two...

Diving incident at Eagles Nest Sink

Families deserve an ACCURATE interpretation to the scenario BEFORE anyone on a stupid internet thread deserves a response. I can tell you a few people have definately fallen into the "your money ain't no good here boy" category for our facility as a result of this and other threads. Quit being...

shearwater Perdix or h3 for occ rec overkill?

Actually once upon a time, I was an Oceanic dealer. My shop was also until recently a Hollis dealer. I found their customer service is very poor comparatively. Unlike other shop owners I'm not going to lie and say I've never had an issue with a product, but Shearwater took care of me without...

shearwater Perdix or h3 for occ rec overkill?

This is one of the biggest selling points IMO. Being a dealer and an end user of Shearwater products, you have NO idea how big a deal great customer service is in this industry. Shearwater is one of the best! They take care of their customers, believe in their products, and have one of the most...

    Tech Diving Locations

It is a conundrum. I really wish forty fathom was still reasonable to dive. It wasn't ideal but it was an option inland for this sort of thing. As it stands, unless you are a full cave diver, booking a Trimix course in this area of FL is almost an impossibility. The good thing is though, if you...

    Tech Diving Locations

Having done a bit of wreck diving in NC, I can attest to this. My husband and I all but stopped counting on charters to go out and started coming to Florida for a week to cave dive. For what it was costing to do a couple days of charters for two divers, we could do a week in FL cave diving and...

Wife against me getting Cave Cert (full)..suggestions?

Even true of wives that also cave dive when their husband is off doing 7+ hour dives..... thanks for sharing your story Ken! :)

Wife against me getting Cave Cert (full)..suggestions?

How against is she? Like no way in hell? Or I'm really worried about x y z? If she's dead set against it...honestly it might be a choose your battle kind of decision, you'll feel guilty if you guilt her into letting you do it, and long term you likely won't end up staying in the sport. This...

Topsail DIY Diving / North Topsail

Hey there! My husband and I used to own and operate a dive shop on Camp Lejeune there, in fact I still own a home in Sneads Ferry about 5-10 mins drive to Topsail Beach. Unfortunately the long and short answer is there really isn't much diving directly off the coast there unless you run a good...

    Advertising

What have you tried? What works what doesn't? Anyone try radio commercials? Obviously we advertise on SB, but looking for other options that may be viable.( In particular for attracting our local market. )

What can your LDS do to bring in more women divers?

    Which Mask Are You Using?

Used to dive religiously with a Dive Rite 125, loved the heck out of that mask for a long time...until I started diving my rebreather and the T pieces on my loop would just so slightly push the frame of the mask when I turned my face. Ended up with trickle leaks and a bunch of blown Dil. Got...

The Cave Politics, Rumor Monger and Gossip Guild is alive and well. Let's end it!

Agree. Also, I don't personally feel there is anything wrong with talking about diving on the internet. I do it a lot! Friends who know me, know I utilize social media often to promote diving. Cave Country Dive Shop is also quite welcoming to all levels of diving. In fact, we have a free diving...

The Cave Politics, Rumor Monger and Gossip Guild is alive and well. Let's end it!

I should also note, that I do try to keep my opinions to myself for the most part. I try to focus on diving and enjoying life. Unfortunately too many are easily offended these days, and I don't have time to deal with that.
