The hood doesn't go into the seal, you should not have any issue.
Any gas that goes from your mask to the hood should leave normally through the hood vents. Most hoods have a hole or two at the top to vent this gas.

My wife got a custom one earlier this year and although she loves the suit, several of the seams seep water.
We just sent it back. We expect it to be taken care of, but that is were it stands right now.
Agreed, almost every time we have a hurricane come through and leave us without power there's some moron who either kills or nearly kills their family by running a generator in the garage.

I recently bought a nomad (used here on the forum) and it was missing the gasket that seals the OPV shut.
I haven't found a source online for a replacement. Where could I find this?

yup! they are reported as being half the weight and neutral in the water as opposed to the jets that are "substantial" both in and out of water. I have some sliptreams on order to use when wet, and keep using the jets when dry. There's several threads on here discussing the comparison.
