    Apeks DB4

Thanks Buddhasummer. I may pick up a couple of DB4 1st stages. $190us per pair so seems like a good price. Hose routing may not be as good as the DST, without the 5th port (on the DB4), but looks like it is manageable.

    Apeks DB4

Here is a video of the db4: Apeks XL4 Regulator I note that it has three ports on one side (2 lp and 1 hp), and 2 lp ports on the other side. I assume no port on end given documentation indicates only 4 lp ports. Any thoughts on the db4 hose routing for doubles (perhaps similar to the DS4)...

Apeks FSR vs. DS4/DST for twin tanks

Yes, MTX-R optimized for cold water (freezing) diving, with several components build to inhibit freezing. One of the more expensive Apeks regs, particularly if you need 2 first stages. Seems that the DST or TEC 3 would be a better choice for you given the type of diving you do (these latter two...

Apeks FSR vs. DS4/DST for twin tanks

Tec 3 is built specifically for doubles. It has 3 low pressure ports so if using on a single rig with a drysuit, would be short one port (2 for regs, 1 for low pressure inflator hose, none for drysuit). Apparently it rocks for doubles specific set up.

Cape Town diving - An overview

Many thanks for this. Lots of useful information. I may just take you up on diving with your wife. Given I won’t be getting in until mid morning Saturday, March 3, I will probably miss out on any charters going out so will be looking for a buddy/guide. Also on Monday, it looks like a lot of...

Apeks FSR vs. DS4/DST for twin tanks

For my twinset, currently using DST with 5th port (Agree with tbone on this option). Looking for a second set and am considering the Apeks Tec 3, which is another option for you.

Apeks Tec 3 country of origin

Hi, Does anyone know definitively the country in which the Tec 3 is manufactured. I’d assume the UK but saw something referencing France for this brand? Anyone?

Aquarat (and others), thanks for the description of Cape Town diving in another thread on SA diving. Below, I've got a few question, so any advise from experienced Cape Town divers would be appreciated. I'm heading to Cape Town, arriving the morning of March 3 (Saturday) and hope to set up in...

Whats the best way to add weight to a maxed out integrated BCD?

[Just saw your reply after I sent this message so may not be the issue, as described below] I note the following specs for your rig: Integrated Ripcord Weight System - 44 lb capacity (24 lbs Diver releasable - 20 lbs non-diver releasable trim weights for improved weight distribution and...

Whats the best way to add weight to a maxed out integrated BCD?

Weight pockets on the camband on both sides of tank would work for about 10lbs (5 each side), which might also help with trim. 55 lbs seems like a lot of weight.

Deep 6 Outfitters live service clinic in the GTA... who's in?

I too may be interested but traveling out of country so not available from 2 to 18 of March. Any plans for Deep6 to come to the Outdoor Adventure Show again this year (February 23-25), which could influence schedule?

Closed: Apeks xtx 50 second stage - looking for

I have 2: a primary and octo. They're about 2-3 year's old and not being use since I switched to doubles (I've got 4 all together but only need two). They have been serviced annually. One of the pair I have is due for the free parts for life service (can't remember which pair), which I will be...

Feedback on where to place weight for drysuit

You've indicted that you might try some pockets on your camband, which is a good idea. Given your BC only has slots for on camband, you can always add another to just the tank. (that is, wrap it around the tank only, with two weight pockets near the pack. This will give you to high and two low...

Feedback on where to place weight for drysuit

If your BC has the slots for another camband, consider adding one. This way, you can an a weight pocket on each side (as opposed to two on each side of a single camband, as you suggest). Benefits include spreading the weight across your back (as opposed to having high on one camband and low on...

Switching from SiTech Antares to... what?

I switched from the si tech Antares to the si tech Virgo. Seems to work fine (mech better than the Antares). Was easy to covert the rings myself..

Customs and clearing for shipping to Canada costs on Deep 6 gear???

For any package shipped into Canada (dive related or other)....If you get package couriered (e.g., UPS, FedEx, etc.), there will be additional costs (brokerage fee, say an extra $9 to $20) and possibly duty. If shipping into Canada, use USPS (government postal service), which means package will...

40lbs double wing with single tank?

Hi, Looking for folks recommendations on whether I should use my 40lb eclipse doubles wing with a single tank (As a temporary solution for this weekend). Context is that I'm diving doubles this weekend but have a chance to do a third dive but only with a singles tank and my bp. I brought my...

    Snorkel vest for SCUBA...?

I dive a 30# wing in drysuit and thermals. I would think a 60# wing might be your problem in your current configuration (single tank, 3mm wetsuit). (Is it even a single tank wing?). Instead of adding more gear like a snorkel vest (and money to buy this gear), consider borrowing a smaller wing...
