Diving in Bermuda while docked from cruise

OSD9, if you can visit this site while on the cruise, I can tell you BWD uses aluminim 80s and yoke valves. My kids and I did numerous dives with them this summer and enjoyed them very much. Next visit, we plan to try Triangle because, as mentioned, they do the north and east dive sites...

    Jaw Fatigue

Another possible help is the ComfiBite mouthpiece. It fits against the roof of the mouth behind the teeth, rather than using more traditional bitewing style mouthpiece. That and Miflex hoses helped resolve my jaw fatigue. I did numerous hour-long dives in Bermuda in June (woohoo!!!), and it...

    How do you clean shells?

If you're still looking for dental picks, just Google "dental picks." You'll find lots of sites where you can buy them. Also good to have in your save-a-dive kits for removing stubborn o-rings............ And thanks for not collecting occupied shells. I don't care for taking lots of...

End of an era..... Paul Newman dies.

He was truly one of a kind. Good actor, great person. Never took himself too seriously, and lived to give, both of himself and his fortune. I like what Redford had to say (paraphrased): that the world was better for him being in it. I still love to watch him as a young(er) man in Butch...

    For All of Us "Northernerns"

It helps to bring your own water bottle. Most boats have lots of water available; it's more environmentally friendly to avoid using a bunch of cups. If it's a day trip (rather than a liveaboard), bring snacks: granola bars, fruit, etc. Something durable and easy to pack. Even though most of...

    Reefmaster Mini questions

Even without the flash attached ( not needed in Bermuda) the photos still turned out red in Sea mode. What am I not doing correctly? And I may try the shade; it's not too pricey. If I do, I'll post the results.

    Bad knee and fins

In my other life, I'm a mail carrier with very bad knees (both have been scoped). I'm also short, so I prefer the Apollo bios. They're a softer split that's easier on my knees, and I use both flutter and frog kicks. Haven't had any trouble getting speed out of them when needed either. I keep...

    Reefmaster Mini questions

I received a mini with strobe as a gift, and have discovered how much fun underwater photography can be. Problem is, I'm not too knowledgeable, so I have some questions. In "sea" mode, I seem to get red photos (last trip was to Bermuda: clear water, depth to about 75 ft). "Landscape" mode is...

Help! Photos red in "sea" mode

Not deep at all; everything in Bermuda is fairly shallow: 25-70 ft. There's a setting for less than 25 ft, but still gave me red photos. Looks like I'll have to learn Photoshop..... Thanks for the input.

Help! Photos red in "sea" mode

My photos with my Reefmaster Mini come out red in the "sea" mode. When I use the "landscape" mode, they're better, but on the blue side. I'm new to underwater photography, and would appreciate any advice.

being called a sissy because I dive dry

After freezing my &^%$# off last Nov in the Channel Islands, I determined that one of my goals is a drysuit. So much diving to be done during the colder months, so little tolerance for diving wet in cold water/air........... Let 'em call you dumb names, and (as previously mentioned), laugh your...

Oasis Divers Phoenix has ceased operations

I believe the truk trip is still a go. You can reach Amy @ The Scuba Shop in Mesa (I'm not telling tales, as this has already been posted on SB).

    Negative buoyant fins

Apollo splits are also negative. They're very flexy, so determine what kind of propulsion works best for her.

Diving in Bermuda while docked from cruise

Where is your ship docking? Blue Water Divers is on the west end, near the Dockyard; Traingle Diving is on the east end, closer to St. George; Dive Bermuda is @ the Southampton Princess Hotel, South Shore, closer to Dockyard than east end. Yes, you should book in advance, and if you have gear...

Thanks for the very detailed instructions, BKP! Even I should be able to do this. Scubatoys, here I come!

    Fear of deep water

Where are you getting certified? It might help to be able to use the anticipation of the sights you'll be able to enjoy in order to calm yourself when you begin to feel anxious. Also, the recommendation that you discuss your fears with your instructor are right on the money. He/she will make...

Would that be the universal swivel? And if so, does it work with their regs?

Atomic B2 swivel and miflex hose

Love the miflex hoses, but my LDS and I couldn't figure out how to attach one with my primary: B2 with swivel. Atomic hasn't gotten back to them yet, so thought I'd see if anyone here had some experience. Anyone?

    Lake Pleasant for newbie

About where in Phx do you live? And what are good days for you? Lots of us go to the lake regularly; there are several popular shore dive spots. And of course you're welcome if you want practice and assistance. Just post when you want to dive; someone will be going.
