Training then. This is what was state of the art advice in 1968

Huh? How exactly has tank technology changed?

    Smallest portable electric compressors?

No hp compressors are not going to be for rent. Too easy for your average knucklehead to kill themselves.

How to secure gloves in pockets?

+1 on this unless you actually can see your pocket, ie a thigh pocket. Otherwise, put them in someone elses pocket. Pockets I can't see, I only use to put stuff in it on the boat that I might have to take out in the water (ie sausage, mirror etc). By definition, everything in a pocket is on a...

Do you pickle your filter media?

So the LF BPR is for sure a winner. I'm losing about 50 psi a day, which is as good as it gets. Not sure where its coming out, but at 2000psi, thats about 40 days of pressure on the filter media. I shan't cry about that. On to the trace analysis to see just how good this compressor really...

New "Advanced Diver" sea sick the whole time!

My wife is hyper sensitive to sea sickness. Though she uses the wrist pressure bands/bracelets on airplanes with good effect, on the boat its the patch (doctor prescribed ones) or she's toast. No ifs ands or buts. For me, I'll pop an over the counter Dramamine an hour before we launch - I...

    Back Plate Options and Opinions

This backplate is going to be made out of what exactly? And why would I want it colored/painted?

Balanced 2nd Stage with Unbalanced Alternate

Hmmm. Well I'm sure that I'm plenty unbalanced; but the below is how I remember it, eventhough I might not be able to use my first language to write it proper... Balanced vs Unbalanced Regs: Does it Make a Difference? | Scuba Diving "Balanced First Stage It’s all about the springs when...

Balanced 2nd Stage with Unbalanced Alternate

Say what? You got your nomenclature assbackwards. All firsts compensate for dropping tank pressure to provide a constant IP. A balanced first stage also takes the depth pressure into account so that the reg breathes the same at 10' as it does at 100'. An unbalanced will breath harder at...

Do you pickle your filter media?

Yeah I slept poorly last night. So it was with some trepidation that I peaked at it this morning. Good thing I had my cup of coffee - sitting on the table - because you can't dance with coffee in your hand! 1200psi on the dot! Yeehaw! :) I'll leave it for several days, since its only...

What wings are you using with your Freedom Plate?

Don't change a thing. IMHO once you go to a BPW, you've stepped into the tinkering stage of diving. A small step, but a significant one none the less. As they (used to) say in another area of fun, "Buy a Harley, get a hobby". Same goes here.

Do you pickle your filter media?

Yes indeedy Petey you did. Now for the over night test. The tower stack is sitting at 1200psi with nothing upstream of the check valve and nothing downstream in the fill lines (both sides open to atmosphere). Fingers crossed.

What wings are you using with your Freedom Plate?

(changed your mind about your post, eh? ;) My guess is that the slots are laser cut before he bends them. Either way the long slots make it versatile for any wing, since it seems the wing mfgs have their own ideas about where to put slots. Seems to me that the whole slot thing just starts to...

What wings are you using with your Freedom Plate?

If you have the solution at your disposal, and you're still whining, then you're just fishing for attention. Fix your plate and post your mods - this thread is about posting solutions that everyone can learn from.

What wings are you using with your Freedom Plate?

Hacksaw. Its just a backplate, not the Sistine Chapel. If it doesn't work, just weld it back together. No harm done.

Please help, where to go in the Bahamas for best diving!!

I dove Stuarts Cove and stayed at the Orange Hill. OH is not luxurious, maybe 2star, but it is comfortable, clean and quiet, and the food was really good, drinks plentiful (if you're not a drink snob) - home cooking, plenty to eat and good prices. After a 4 dive day, just kicking back with a...

    Worthington Tanks

I'm no expert on this company, but what I understand is that their only other mfg plant is in Canada, not the US. That to me spells $+ on the tanks, that are already the highest price steels as far as I know. The current price is already $60 higher than last year....doesn't seem sustainable to...

    Worthington Tanks

Bumping the thread. I'm surprised this hasn't had more viz here on SB - not that the sky is falling or anything. Still, I only have Worthingtons (and catalinas) and I love them. Anyone else interested in this news?
