    when spring straps break ...

I'm not sure how one would attach the original strap as the binding post the strap attaches to (the little C shaped piece of metal with the sliding rod) has been removed. I guess one could attempt to jam it between the delrin cylinder and the fin. Cave line works and is a multi tasker.

    Analysis of a bad dive.

Yeah I slowly changed my gear of the course of several months. I had been diving a backplate and wing since the beginning. Switched to long hose and necklace backup. Then drysuit. Then primary light (had to add reel about the same time - for cavern). Next up doubles. Problems with changing isn't...

    Hey TSandM,

Looks awesome - those Mexican Cenotes formed much differently than the caverns I've seen here in Florida so far. Way cool. I moved to North Florida a year ago to dive more. Got my cavern training a little over a month ago, now its practice practice practice so I can take Basic cave soon. I'm...

    when spring straps break ...

Wow, I figured they would break when stretching them to get them on or off. So I didn't figure they wouldn't break just be far more likely to fail at the surface - when stressed the most. 150 dives seems pretty low, any noticable damage or corrosion at the break point?

    Was April Fool's Prank funny?

*I would post here but I left the site but not before shooting Santa Claus and making rabbit stew out of the Easter Bunny. BTW the Easter Bunny was easy to catch thanks to ^you^ and all the carets.

Suggestion April Fools went too far

How did I spoil it? I didn't post on any ^you^ threads (as they were obvious to me - thank you very much) - just threads about April Fools going too far. Perhaps you shouldn't insult me about not having a sense of humor when you clearly know nothing about me. I didn't personally attack you...

    Again...have you lied!!

Its not just scubaboard I've been at many dive sites where the amount of weight was an issue. I'm all for helping a diver who is way over weight but many times this turns into pressure to have very little weight. This of course leads to someone being too light and corking at the end of dive -...

    JAX Offshore charter

Miranda and I might go however I have no intentions on going out with a bunch of spear fishing. How many does Atlantic Pro usually take out? Can we get enough to charter the whole boat?

A very bad week in Florida

Were you in Peacock I on Saturday the 17th? I think I might have witnessed some of this. Either way sorry you had a bad experience. My advice on finding a Cave or any instructor but especially more difficult diving is to seek advice from other like minded people such as here or TDS. People don't...

Storing can light: can open or clamped closed?

After every dive I pop the lid and check for leaks. Then I put the battery on the charger. I take the reflector and goodman handle off the bulb and ballast slug to clean out any debris (duckweed from orange grove). The reflector, bulb slug, and canister sit on a piece of foam on a shelf in my...

Floating Feet - need ankle weights?

I think in a drysuit and in a wetsuit are two very different problems. In a drysuit if your feet go over your head and air rushes to it you will have a feet first ascent that will get more out of control as you ascend. In a wetsuit I just don't see this happening, I guess in a wetsuit light feet...

    Produce air at depth

A cylinder holds the same volume of air at the same pressure (minus cooling) at any depth as the cylinder is a rigid body and isn't compressible. The problem with scuba and depth is in our lungs. The first stage and second stage in a regulator work together to produce air that is at the same...

charging double to fill hp 100 tank

Yeah Cave Excursions by the cubic foot nitrox is hard to beat. Air fills aren't measured but I think they are around $4/fill. $4-5/fill for air seems to be the norm around here - less if you buy a bunch at many places. Never been charged a different price on my 80s at 3000PSI versus my 100s at...

    Yoke safe for 3442psi?

I agree if I was traveling and knew I would be using yoke all week I'd swap my first stages back. I dislike the converters but mine only moves the first stage around 1/2 forward. Yeah I notice it, but its not a huge deal. But if you are diving yoke all week why have 2 o-rings in the mix? My...

How do you attach trim weights to your BP/W?

Legal & other issues from SG Mishap

I also paid my $10 fee. However what I wasn't made aware of but found out later this should be a $10 annual fee and I should receive a medallion. Upon learning about this I doubt the $10 was actually given to the Upper Keys Artificial Reef Foundation and was probably kept by the charter as an...

3 Divers lost on the Spiegel Grove

What makes you think current had anything to do with this accident? Sounds like they were deep inside the SG and probably were completely out of the current. I dove it, the current was ripping, hold the line on ascent and decent. Stay in the shelter of the structure while on the wreck.
