Don't confuse training and legal requirements. As the first reply stated they had trouble from an insurance point of view.
Cavern is a great course (I'm referring to a cave diving agency course because that is what I have taken) but from an insurance perspective is not AOW.
AOW can be great...
No problem - I did my IANTD Intro just over a year ago - hope to do full this year. The training was challenging but lots of fun. Have a great time and be safe.
Immediately. I feel more safe diving my plan, than diving in a gaggle following a supposed DM.
Went for a dive in the quarry then took a trip to panama city.
We just got back from Bonaire (sitting in Atlanta right now for a connecting flight), sure it was cloudy a few days and we even saw a small amount of rain. None of it slowed down the diving one iota. I wouldn't worry about it for a second.
I have ordered a total of 6 of these - 4 DIN for two sets of doubles and 2 yoke for traveling. Laura is awesome and due to my proximity I usually get them next business day. These are a screaming deal for $60 bucks.
This is a bad sign to me if you have to do this regularly. If you can not equalize and have to ascend to equalize chances are you have done at least a small amount of trauma. To me it sounds like you need to use the Valsalva maneuver and get adequate air into your ears before having trouble...
An HP120 - 120 CuFt @ 3442 would be 101 CuFt @ 2900. But I would buy an LP95 - Here in cave country they are regularly filled beyond 3000 MAYBE it fails hydro a time earlier than it would have everything else being equal.
No I greatly prefer a world in which I am responsible and determine my own level of safety. If I deem something unsafe I won't do it. I don't want some DM deciding he doesn't like the way I dive. I bring my dive buddy of comparable skill - so I don't do instant buddies - as I think that is...
An organization does exist for Cave Rescue and Recovery. They have a history of publishing their reports on their website. While many times these reports contain very little facts about what went wrong (as no one alive knows them), they are made available. People are simply asking for time for...
Well so much for the minimum speculation.
What leads you to believe he was not experienced at Ginnie? He was well known and respected by a number of divers in and around High Springs.
He had at least the following certifications:
* IANTD Closed Circuit Rebreather (CCR) - Megalodon
*...
Yes he was using a rebreather.
People involved with Mark and his recovery have asked to kept speculation to a minimum especially at least until the IUCRR report comes out.
I have and use one of these computers. It will show remaining NDL time as the dive progresses. It will (provided it was used) take into account the previous dive and adjust NDL based on residual nitrogen.
My computer will show 200 minutes NDL when I get very shallow. Sounds like you never...
TSandM and I spoke today and P1 is blown out. I'm going to wave off diving tomorrow - the fortunes of living in the area.
TSandM and company I hope you find some clear water - Ginnie is still good to go and hopefully some other systems will be good to go. Catch you next time!
My wife and I were Intro to Cave certified back in October. I have taken our camera into a few caves that we know very well - I live in North East Florida so I get to cave dive alot - however I leave it behind on almost every dive. We simply don't have the experience to add the task loading of a...
Of course purging the reg will clear it, thats one of its intended functions. However I see quite a bit a difference from me purging the reg when I choose - versus teaching someone to purge a reg for someone else when they may not be expecting it. I was definitely not taught this way. I was...
Purging a regulator into someone's mouth is likely to cause more problems than it solves - especially if they are near panic. In my humble opinion the best course of action is to hand the regulator to the OOA diver with your hand clear of the purge button. We do this with the long hose setup by...
