    Where Did I Go Wrong?

I would assume if the rig is sinking the wing eventually gets fully submerged.

Replacing o-ring on male end of spg hose

I believe that is the standard size for most HP ports on first stages. However I believe most scubapros take 011 for this application.

    Where Did I Go Wrong?

The worthington X7-100 is -10 full The faber HP 100 is -15 full The sherwood HP 100 is -11.5 full But in the end this is just too close to call. The wing gets constricted by the tiniest amount by the plate and the tank and poof there goes some lift.

    Extinguishing the impulse to bolt

I've only had the urge to bolt once and it was very early in my OW training - first pool session I believe. I had trouble clearing the mask after doing the mask remove/replace and even though I could breathe fine, it was freaking me out. Eventually I did go to the surface (slowly not really a...

    Near Miss OOA

This is just one reason I don't "gaggle" dive. People tend to "follow the leader" and ignore events they would not have in a buddy pairing dive. There is peer pressure for the group to remain together. However people have widely varying air consuption rates and the guy leading sometimes has the...

Not understanding the long hose thing

The question was not about doing shallow dives. The question was SPECIFICALLY about using the long hose. So its surprising there are comments from long hose users??? DIR did not invent the long hose or the hog configuration. I haven't seen in over the top you must be DIR in this thread at...

What to use as a Deco Reg?

I think its hard to beat the Dive Rite O2 Rig setup. Are you planning on boosting O2 into your deco bottle? Most supplier bottles of O2 come at 2400 PSI so unless your gas supplier is going to boost you will get between 2000 - 2400 PSI in your deco bottle.

    Removing LP & HP hoses

Hoses don't last forever - trash it, get a new one for your new first stage.

    Cave Instructor recommendations

Nick Leone - took Cavern and Intro with him. A good instructor and a good guy all around. Spent extra time on my weak parts (frog kick) and ran a good challenging class - when completed I felt ready to dive at the level I was certified for. Rich Courtney - have not taken a class with him...

Anyone else have a problem with a buddy grabbing your primary?

I really think you are reading too much into this. I see you put "that the best approach..." in quotes - however I did not find that quote in this thread. I think the vast majority of divers are going to agree that a signal and donation is "the best approach". However many of us believe an OOA...

Anyone else have a problem with a buddy grabbing your primary?

I'm glad your experiences were mostly positive in a negative situation. Hoewver it isn't always that way. The way you wrote the first paragraph actually makes the OOA incident look text book. However this paragraph tells a vastly different story. A signal was give, A signal was missed, you...

Anyone else have a problem with a buddy grabbing your primary?

Forgot to add the "logic" is to have a controlled exchange - it which case you can choose to donate the primary. In the non-optimal someone takes your regulator without asking/signing/etc, (blindsiding you and you don't even know its coming) I believe it more likely them will take my primary...

Anyone else have a problem with a buddy grabbing your primary?

Because your primary is known good working and your buddy is probably wanting to take a breath really soon now. You are in better shape to deal with an issue should you switch to your secondary and discover it not working. The regularly ran out of air? ouch I would have been even more POd...

Best time of year in Cave Country?

I prefer winter - usually does not flood, tubers not out in force at places like Ginnie, mesquitos are mostly absent. It can get a bit cold if you live here and are used to warm. But if you are diving dry, winter is great.

Anyone else have a problem with a buddy grabbing your primary?

It is not acceptable to grab someone's primary especially in the tech realm. If you are technical diving, you are expected to stay calm and relaxed and give the out of air sign and receive the primary donation. The grabbing of the primary comes from panicked divers that see your air bubbles...

    Is Bonne Terre worth it?

Also disclaimer - never been there - can't imagine I would ever go. From their website sounds like something I would never do. But that is me personally I dislike group diving - I think it is a cause of a lot problems for new divers (running low on air as they can't leave the group) and I...

Goodenough Springs Exploration Project - Notice of Complaint

Actually by bringing this dirty laundry to air in the public, it appears that might be what GESP wants - to shut down access - and then setup some sort of repugnant system like Wakulla. It seems as if Mr Noe gave them every reason to think they would be welcome there (not like they need his...

Bonaire trip report (Oct 25-28...Buddy Dive sux)

Please realize Buddy Dive have many positive and negative reviews as any place will. I haven't been there in a while but while my wife and I were there it was great. Our truck was brand new, we had unlimited nitrox tanks, and they had decent drink specials at the bar/restaurant near the pool...

    Protecting your cannister light

I agree - if putting something small and cheap over a cable would be better for it - I bet they would do it. My salvo is about 2 years old and the cable looks brand new.

    Cavern Cert

Pretty much what Dive-aholic has said. I don't believe there is any nitrogen narcosis reduction as I believe oxygen tends to be about as narcotic as nitrogen. Presuming a single AL80 this is definitely in the realm of an NDL dive, in that case the limits are 9 minutes on 21% and 12 minutes on...
