    Dominica Trip Report

I thought there was some difference in the diving between Cabrits and Scotts Head. The formations in Scott's Head were more interesting, but I thought the vis. up in Cabrits was much better. The marine life, as expected, was very similar. I thought the navigation was a little easier in Cabrits...

    Dominica Trip Report

Hi all, thought I would pop on and post a report on my trip to Dominica. A group of 14 from mostly Cincy and NE Ohio spent June 8-15th in Dominica with an overnight in Puerto Rico both ways. Accomodation: Stayed at Ft. Young Hotel. I thought this place was great, our room was beautiful and...

    Last minute Dominica tips

Thanks all... I will be getting into Dominica June, 8 and leaving on June 15. Sounds like I can't go wrong on the waterfalls and now I at least have a couple of tips on where to eat. I will make sure I pick the DMs brains, especially if they've got the scoop on a truely local joint.

Trying to start up in Charlotte, NC

I got certified at Matthews Watersports, Corner of Monroe Rd. & 51. It may look like a small operation, but my instructor was phenomenal and that is really all I cared about. Prices were reasonable too. Welcome to Matthews Water Sports

    Cayman Brac or Little Cayman?

If you decide to go to Little Cayman and stay at the LCBR, I would suggest upgrading the oceanfront rooms. They have little fridges and most importantly you won't be as annoyed by karaoke night. That was my only beef with the joint.

    Luggage question - Little Cayman

On our trip over, they weighed the dive bags and other luggage and the limit was 55 lbs for the flight to LC. If you had a backpack or purse, they didn't weigh it. If you had a bag that was a suitcase style carry-on or a labeled reg. bag they weighed it and counted it towards your 55 lbs...

    Cayman Shark Dives?

I was in Little Cayman February of 2007. We saw spotted eagle rays on three separate dives, nurse sharks on two separate dives, and small blacktips on two separate dives. Both blacktips were spotted from a decent distance. It was nothing like the Bahamas, but I was very surprised as I didn't...

Little Cayman Beach Resort- been there?

I just got back 3/3/07 and, overall, everything was great. Diving was excellent, vis. was not quite as good as I expected, but no complaints. Rooms were decent and the food went from ok to great depending on what they cooked up. My only complaint was the Friday night karaokee... they were up...

    Diving and alcohol

It just seems to me that when people answer this question they either go the dehydration route or assume that drinking before diving assumes shot gunning a twelve pack right before the giant stride. Like I said, I don't drink before I dive, but I don't see a problem with someone having a...

    Diving and alcohol

Let me start by saying that I would never drink then dive. That's just me. Just to play devils advocate, wouldn't a couple of cups of coffee in the morning be just as bad as drinking a bottle of beer as far as dehydration goes?

    Help me choose destination

Hi all, and thanks for you help in advance. Next summer I'm exchanging a week of my condo for a tropical destination for my wife and I and a non-diving couple. From air fare cost and limitations on my exchange I've got it narrowed down to the following... St. John, Cancun, Aruba or...

people want to be advanced divers.

Just to illustrate two different reasons why people would get the advanced card. My wife has been diving for years and our LDS owner who has seen my wife dive probably 100 times or so in person basically gave her the card so she wouldn't be shut out of any sites. My wife read the book and all...

    Little Cayman experience level

Thanks for all the help and encouragement. I know in Coz. I really enjoyed being on the walls and only having the deep blue below me so I guess I'll be good to go in Little Cayman. My dive buddy/wife has a ton of experience and she always keeps a pretty good eye on me.

    D6 Help

I'm looking to complete my rig and need to add a computer. My LDS suggested the Suunto D6 which is a little out of my price range right now. I was originally looking at a Vyper or Mosquito. Well, the short of it is, the owners (and friends of mine) said they would rather put me in a D6 and...

    Little Cayman experience level

Hi all, and thanks for your help in advance. I've been certified for a year now and have a question about Little Cayman. I've logged about 35 dives split about evenly between Coz. and Bonaire, I have also completed my AOW. I've been doing some research for an upcoming trip to Little Cayman...
