    Gas Management on Double-Tank Side-Mounting

GUE use 30lpm as the stressed SAC rate and 20lpm as normal. With min gas based on the stressed SAC. Now stressed SAC rates can massively spike, which is an issue in either manifold or independent tanks. I just wondered what the SOP is for sidemount.

    Gas Management on Double-Tank Side-Mounting

:hijack: So working on a Min Gas scenario, which for GUE (unlikely sidemounters, I know) is 1200 litres for a 30m dive, or 50bar in twinset, based on 2 divers breathing 30lpm. What is the correct protocol for having the gas available in Sidemount? 50 bar min in each cylinder (assuming 12l)...

xDeep Black BT - anyone own one yet? post reviews & feedback here...

I used one over the weekend. Nice and bright even on the lowest setting. Easy to use, didn't have chance to read the manual before I hopped in the water (was only a 6m dive) but soon worked out the long and short taps to access menus. Putting in my order ASAP.

    Conservative progression to TEC?

I know people with a thousand dives who aren't ready for Tech. I know people with 50 that are. It all depends on the individual.

Tricks for reaching valves and manifold?

One Piece Harness That's ok. The half inch won't make much difference, but they should be up a little, literally just below the curve of the neck.

Tricks for reaching valves and manifold?

Is the Drysuit rear zip? Are you diving in a OPH? Where are the manifold bands on the Tanks?

Fair enough. But the problems don't really affect Dahab, if you could find flights then I'd would still go.

    The Vagaries of Trim

This weekend I offered to do the video work for a Fundies class. I was pretty much wearing exactly the same kit that I had recently passed Fundies in, bar going to back to my Mares Avantis. The results were less than fabulous. :shocked2: Without the heavy sold fins I was unable to properly...

Living costs vary, but the price of an IDC works out pretty much the same for every country. From Norway though I'd probably head for Dahab. Cheaper to live than Sharm and easy access to diving as it is 95% shore based. I can recommend a few places.

    PADI IDC Koh Tao feedback

When it comes to Tech, I would cast a broader net than PADI or whatever is offered on Koh Tao. IDCs are IDCs you're prepped to pass whoever you choose, be they in Mexico, Malaysia or Florida. But Tech is different matter altogether. You're profile says you're based in Alsaska? If that's the...

    Double Tank Manifolds, Bad Idea!

Accepted risk. However as you said it is very, very rare. I don't see how the valves are in a different position when diving independents, unless you mean sidemount. If I can't reach my valves; unlikely. I can't identify the faulty valve, possible. Then my buddy will help me shut them down...

    Mosquito Dive Log

They don't claim that. From my Sunnto Vytec Manual pg 47 It will keep a tally up to 999 but will only hold the complete information (depth, time, avg depth, temp etc) for the last 36 hours. Once you reach 999 it starts again at 0 for the next dive. Which is when you put it on ebay as 'never...

    Mosquito Dive Log

IIRC all Suuntos only hold 35hrs of diving. The History only holds your max depth ever and total number of dives.
