    trim

Can you give a good description of what equipment you are using? As all these components affect trim. For example I struggle to get flat trim in a drysuit with my old Mare Quattros as I'm subconsciously worried about tipping forward, not an issue with my heavy Scubapro Jetfins. Short tanks will...

    Diving Western Australia

Bunbury Sucks!!!! Had to tell it like it is, I used to live there. I always used to go down south (further down south) to dive or surf TBH. Charters in town do go out to a little prepared wreck called the Lena, but when the Swan is just down the road in Dunsborough then it's a no brainer...

    Diving Western Australia

That just reminded me. Albany 3-4 hours drive South from Perth. They have the HMAS Perth wreck, Cheynes III, Weedy Seadragons, Seals. All in a toasty 15-16 Degrees C. Awesome diving though. Southcoast Diving Supplies - Home

    deep stops or not

What was the training? PADI, IANTD, TDI etc? Not sure where this plus 6 rule has come from, really a new one on me. For a 30m dive on Nitrox 32%: I would make 9mpm acsent to 15m The slow to 6mpm or 30 sec stop 30 sec slides for each 3m increment. At 6m take as long as possible to ascend to...

    Divemaster: Equipment Concerns

When I first became a DM the only new stuff I had was wetsuit, fins, mask and Computer. My BCD and Reg were second hand. By chance the shop I ended up working for also used the same brand as my BDC/Reg combo, so I didn't look out of place (save for the fact my BCD was a little browner). I...

    Advise IDC course, please

IDC's are pretty much the same the world over. The follow a set program and you are coached to pass the I.E. This is not the same as being taught how to be an instructor BTW. Prices generally work out the same so getting a cheap deal is normally out of the question. Unless a currency suddenly...

    perforated eardrum; surgery and diving

I waited 3 months for my Tympanoplasty; a similar operation, but that was the standard waiting list time for my area in the UK, nothing to do with the Surgeon. I've had it done and now I have 2 months before I can be assessed if I can dive again. Not a great feeling, but I'm hopeful I will get a...

Appropriate No of Logged dives to become a DM/instructor

Agree and 'liked'. Burden of knowledge can be a terrible thing when trying to teach OW. The students don't care about set points on your CCR or the time you got stuck solo-diving inside a wreck. Sent from my couch using tapatalk

    GUE Training Question

I think everybody needs to approach Fundies from their own direction. I took the course purely because I wanted to take GUE Cave courses. I already had full trimix, over 2000+ dives and have worked as an instructor for 7 years. Did I learn anything? Yes, did I learn a huge amount? No, because...

    DIR Requirements for doubles wing?

I'd go with a 50lb and then get a 60Lb later if you need one. I have a 50lb Frog and that's a downgrade from the 60LB APEKs I used to have. It simply wasn't necessary to have the lift for the diving I was doing. I've used the 50lb with Twin 80's and 3 80s for stage bottles and I haven't found I...

New to scuba (PADI OW Cert) - desperate to go to Red Sea in Oct, but not in Egypt?

I've just spent a week in dahab. There is absolutely no problem in going there. If anything now is the time to go, its quiet and you'll have some dive sites to yourself. Sent from my couch using tapatalk

    The Walking Dead

Have to avoid this thread as I'm a week behind in the U.K but as usual the soundtrack has been influencing my mp3 purchases Ben Howard - Oats in the Water - YouTube and this little ditty Ben Nichols - The Last Pale Light in The West' [Offical Video] - YouTube

How well do you hold stops?

Depends. -/+ 25CM in the early portion of deco. Towards the end when I'm starting to get cold from the hang and my breathing rhythm is shifting then -/+ 35cm. This dive plan however is a different story, it sound like you are flying the computer for the dive. What is the back-up?

Trust me, take Sharm off the list. Diving further south in Egypt is much better. Don't go to far south though in case of :pirate2::pirate3:

    Scubapro wetsuit advice

Best wetsuit i've ever owned. Seals are great, and the water ingress is minimal. I've used it in 12 degree water, but 15 was really the low end for comfort. (celsius btw). I recommend not buying online as it is a suit that needs to be tried on. I ended up with a medium large, whereas i'm a...
