I went for the liveaboard option.
It was touch and go with the weather, for the LB to actually go, but the weather was fantastic and I dived the Yongala twice at silly O clock in the morning. However, 12 years and 2000 dives later on, the Yongala still sits as my Number 1 dive.
For me as a...
PIR has a small dive shop. There is one in the next bay I forget the name of. Turtle Bay Divers is next to Watercolours.
FYI. Turtles feed off of the PIR beach. There is a large seagrass area, great for a snorkel.
Single dives, the boat goes out 4 times a day. So you can do a morning dive, then chill for hours, then hop on at 4 for the last dive.
The cold water thing never bothered me. Very refreshing in the humidity.
Watercolours dive centre (Watercolours| Dive Center Malaysia)
Max 4 per dive. You don't have to set your kit up (unless it's your own) and a pancake after the dive! (I'm basing all this on when I worked there quite a few years ago though!)
Dives to do:
Sugar Wreck
Tokong Laut
Terumbu Tiga...
The reality is it's just not that hard to service your regs.
People will say you need and array of special tools, but this is a falsehood. Yes, if you follow the guidelines laid out in the service manuals it would seem like you need a small arsenal of specialist kit. However, I've maintained my...
A lad at the local dive shop has a cleft palate and dives quite regularly. However in the UK, all divers are required to have a medical prior to diving courses if they have contra-indications on the medical form.
Best bet is to go to one of the local dive shops. I always recommend the shop I...
Phrases I no longer entertain since the op':
'Let's play it by ear'
And after a haircut 'You've had your ears lowered'
They all garner the same response :censored:
Unlucky mate.
Been in the ENT's theatre once this year, back in a few months. Makes for a very short dive season this year :(
But. Think of it this way. There's no excuse for your kit not being fully serviced in the meantime! I'll send you some vinegar ;)
I see it in two ways:
Firstly how many people actively take souvenirs of car/plane crashes? Next to none, so why are ship wrecks any different?
Secondly: Don't **** with my dive. Maybe I would have like to seen that Bell/Cannon/porthole on my own dive and even taken a photo of it. I don't want...
Yes and No.
Getting in the water with RD means you have a rough idea of how much deco you want to do. Once you get to 21m you still have the flexibility to decide how you want to do that deco. Are you going to split the time equally or are you going to lessen the time in the intermediate depths...
I used to use run times, but I'm alright now ;-)
I started using Ratio Deco last year and it changed by diving. Deco become intuitive rather than controlled (ie from a program). I work out basic gas parameters in my head + an initial idea of the schedule then adjust that based on what happens...
