You can get to (Full) Trimix with IANTD without ever touching helium
Adv Nitrox - Technical Nitrox - Trimix
or go the posh gas route
ART - Normoxic - Trimix
ART and Adv EANx are the same course deco wise (15 minutes) but slightly different in depth 48m and 42 respectively.
Personally I'd...
Whole different thread. And one that should be taken into parent forum
You're the one that claimed I'd never taken any actually.
As above not interested in measuring johnsons
Aj, you live in Florida, you dive with the WKPP. If the CCR course bugs you so much go down to EE and talk to them about it.
If you want to get into D**k measuring with me then I'll get a ruler.
Otherwise let's just leave it.
Yep and we're talking about bringing CCR down to Tech1 entry.
Again, no bottom stage, and in correcting myself, only 1 deco gas.
And don't tell me I haven't taken GUE courses, I have. Seriously dude get over yourself.
Well, there will not likely be any rotations will there? Bailout is on the back of the JJ. therefore only 2 deco gases, no bottom stage.
Stowing hoses while stationary. Should be able to do at fundies level i.e. holding stop. No different from firing an SMB.
Mentally adjusting deco times on...
They mentioned at the GUE conference that it may drop to T1 as a pre-req. Not a guarantee.
But the courses are happening, so you never know. I know of only 4 guys in the UK with the cert though, 2 of them are instructors chosen for the beta course.
I did an impromptu holiday dive last year, far away from my BP/W. Rented all the kit, standard jacket, standard, regs, light fins. Still got wet, still got horizontal, still went diving.
Just go diving. Don't worry what everyone else is doing.
You take GUE courses to do GUE course it's as simple as that.
Some people stop at Fundies, others go further because they want that style and level of training; and it comes with a price.
Are the courses expensive past Fundies, f**k yeah. No doubt about it. I had to cancel Cave1 this year due...
Utila and Koh Tao have a heavy backpacker party vibe. I haven't dive Koh Tao, but the diving on Utila was fantastically underwhelming. I did drink a lot of rum though :)
Roatan has the better diving by far, but has an older average age, so it's not all party-party there.
For my money go to...
That just took the Keys off my dive destinations. If one other boat shares a wreck it gets my goat, but 15!?
:offtopic: are the keys dives sites that crowded?
All divers should be carrying a DSMB and be required to put it up at the beginning of the ascent. Again this may just be a UK thing , but that's how we dive over here regardless of current. Once the bag goes up the skipper knows where we are. Rarely do we have the option of going back to the...
Just been reading through this dive centre's descriptions:
Dive Sites Rangiroa, French Polynesia | Tiputa Pass and Avatoru Pass
Tiputta Pass/ Sharks Cavern: 115ft for 10 mins. I don't think that's twinset territory, admittedly in the grey area, but standard fare really.
Enjoy the dives as...
