    Buying a New Digital SLR

NICE setup. I'm jealous. I have that 100 mm mac and on land it changed my life. No bug is safe! Doesn't look like anything special, but one of the sharpest lenses that ever passed through my hands. Keep us posted; I'd be really interested to hear how it functions underwater. I think maybe...

Where do I go to see Anenome and Clownfish?

I've only seen them in the wild bonded to an anemone like that once; in Yap. It was a 3" or so sebae (sp?) clown and he was clearly ready to take me on.

Please help a new guy out Leaky Mask)

One more point: it's a mask; it'll leak, sometimes. Less of a waste of time to get used to it a little than to get too anal about keeping it powder dry in there. Just a thought HIH

Of course. But following that logic, how far can you take this? Does 5 mins at 130 followed by <g> 5 mins at 10 equal 10 mins at 70??

Fascinating thread, you bunch of miscreants. I've been using a computer for years but never stopped doing post mortems on dives with the tables, a drill I highly recommend for rec divers on computers. You begin to understand how aggressive computers can be. Be that as it may, the averaging...

My classic Cyklon gives me water every time I look up. They tell me it's something about the design. (Which is why I only take the thing out on Sundays.)

Miine are set to "Instant Notification". However, if I look at the full list of subscribed threads, none of the notification boxes are checked. I'm getting notifications again at the moment but I suspect we haven't seen the end of this yet.

what weight do you carry and what weight are you

Well, not in my experience but that's what they keep telling me. In reality, it entirely depends on how much underwear you wear under the d/s. In my case, at least, 6# would be the very minimum, 12 would usually be more likely.

Bit of a non-starter when you wear a hood sometimes, though. Or in my case - two different hoods depending on whether I'm wet or dry. It really shouldn't be THAT critical, anyway. Tighten the strap until it just holds the mask against your face. Always worked for me.

just as cold in a drysuit

I hear this often enough that I guess I'm going to get zipseals put on the ol' DUI. At least then I could go back to the old way if necessary. Anyone have an opinion on those things? (If that doesn't count as a hijack.)

Well, it's certainly true that Norwegians have as much to say about cold water as Canadians (or anyone else for that matter) but - wool?? I'd get so itchy that I'd probably kill my buddy. I think you'd want to put one of those back-scratchers with the plastic hand on the end inside the suit...

In that kind of water, I find that not even a 400g quite cuts it, when the water is in the mid 30s. I would DEFINITELY add polypro undies.

Did the mask ever not leak? Don't know what to suggest about the ears. I might try a doctor on that one.

Actually, I'm wrong. It looks as though Passenger 57 ripped it off. Well yeah, kind of interesting that anybody would rip it off, now that you mention it. Itote: Jaws. "There'll be no fighting in here, this is the war room!"
