    13 Cu. Pony Tank

There's a missing variable, here. First, you have to measure your breathing rate at the surface, (everyone is a little different) THEN factor in how much that volume of air is compressed at, in your example, 20 ft. Also, it makes a difference how relaxed you are.

Anyone hear of getting kicked out of BOW?

Makes sense. In spite of LDS loyalty issues etc etc that have been expressed here, I'm inclined to continue to believe that business is business. When you sign up for a course, you don't sign any agreement that limits you in where you purchase your gear. AFIAC there isn't necessarily any...

Anyone hear of getting kicked out of BOW?

Just out of curiosity... If you know her well enough to be doing this, why don't you know what the reason was for her getting booted out?

Oh, they're fine - just as long as you carry a redundant needle. Unless you're into one of those closed-circuit sergers in which case don't get me started.

    Doing it Ridiculous

This seems like a good point to me, especially when you consider that once that thing has been freeflowing, it's going to be very cold, and quite likely to keep misbehaving until it warms up again somewhat. Which is going to take minutes.

    13 Cu. Pony Tank

What is the matter with everyone on the board these days? When is somebody going to get in here and say something obnoxious??

Nice going. Did the guy ever explain how he got into that fix? Do you always carry a slate with you? (I ask because of the 'note'.)

    Need advice please

All I can really tell you is that for my own part, I was never a particularly comfy diver until I got into my first backplate, several years ago. The thing actually made the sport fun again.

    Doing it Ridiculous

<g> Reminds me of something that fellow Winnipegger Mashall Mcluhan once said: "All generalizations are false. Including this one."

    Doing it Ridiculous

True. It's when the water gets crunchy and you can't get wet any more that the trouble starts.

    Doing it Ridiculous

I certainly hope that's not peculiar to DIR. Myself, I teach it from square one.

    Doing it Ridiculous

Well, fairly easily, I hope. I don't think it was so much DIR vs the rest of the world as it was common sense vs the mass market.

    Doing it Ridiculous

Correct me if I'm wrong, but in the DIR definition of "open water" diving, isn't a single tank not only legitimate, but recommended? In which case, much of this confuses me even more than it did on the face.

Other possibilities: -The skirt is getting twisted someplace; -There's hair under the skirt; -You've got the strap too far up or down on the back of your head; -There's dirt lodged in the workings of the mask someplace or the skirt hasn't mated with the frame somewhere. (Take it to the lds...

    Buying a New Digital SLR

I understand that in Canon's case the reason is that they feel that lenses with a particular ratio of size to internal volume need to be white in order to reflect sunlight, in order to relieve heating of the barrel, which can cause enough disturbance inside the lens to degrade the image. Maybe...

    Buying a New Digital SLR

I'm pretty sure you'll find it awesome. I wouldn't bother taking it on any drift dives, though. <g> Strobe placement will be a tad critical, I would think.
