Why the dislike of air integrated computers?

No worries here either. Overall I view the whole thing as being a personal choice. Wireless AI or SPG and no AI. Makes no difference IMO. The whole failure point argument is overblown for a recreational diver such as myself. Both have their advantages and disadvantages to the person...

Why the dislike of air integrated computers?

So has the likelihood of failure. In my experience I have never personally experienced a failure of either, nor have I seen it happen on the trips I have been on. If I were to have my choice of a hp hose blowing or a transmitter failure I would choose the transmitter failure though neither...

Why the dislike of air integrated computers?

But that is not the point. The point is that if the transmitter fails or the hp hose fails it is not an emergency but it is time to surface at a safe and reasonable rate. In either event you do not know how much air you have. Maybe I have it wrong. If you have a HP hose failure, then...

Why the dislike of air integrated computers?

If the HP hose blew, neither would your SPG be worthwhile. With a blown hose, the air won't be there for long.

Why the dislike of air integrated computers?

Then with that logic, neither should the failure of a transmitter.;) If the transmitter quits or the hose blows, there is no emergency.

Dipping my toes in the water.....

I made a trip on the AquaCat. That is a great boat! Plenty of room and very comfortable. The food was good and plentiful. You will have a great time. I am still at a point that diving is the most fun you can have wearing neoprene and breathing underwater. 21 dives for the week. Great fun...

    My Scubapro Luna -*$&@

    1. A redundant computer might be a solution to the immediate problem. 2. It may be possible to rent a computer either from the destination or the LDS. 3. Ask the LDS if they can supply a loaner for the upcoming trip. I would double my efforts on #3. That is one of the advantages of buying...

    AOW? Joke? Meaningless?

This isn't the first time this has been discussed. One thing nobody seems to mention is that often a person gets out of something what they are willing to put into it. I'm sure there are instructors out there that put little to no effort into teaching the AOW class. I am not saying that the...

    Which island for first time?

I don't have any experience with the land based resorts but I have done dives off of all 3 islands via live aboard. If the resort on Little Cayman is as great as I have read, I would say Little Cayman wins my vote, the other 2 are just okay compared to LC.

Why the dislike of air integrated computers?

A dive computer read out is a representation of the tables. The tables are a representation of the same thing, printed out on a piece of paper. The tables were generated by a computer. They represent the same thing in different formats.

    "That" diver

That might be true for some. I frequently look back at my photos even 3 or 4 years down the road. It brings back some good memories, most of the good ones I can remember getting the picture.

    Aqualung Dimension I3

The Stilletto would be my choice. I have one. It fits well has plenty of lift for a single tank. I like the rip cord system for the integrated weights. It is a back inflate so there is nothing cluttering up the front. It holds the tank firmly in place with 2 tank straps. I use the zeagle...

Just a little addition to the atheist president numbers. As I recall when JFK was elected President there was a very large contingent of folks questioned his ability to hold the office due to his being a Catholic. As time passes things change. Transcript: JFK's Speech on His Religion : NPR
