Are Aqua Lung Dimension I3s Dangerous?

I have an i3. I don't dive it any more. However, it didn't feel dangerous on any of the dives did with it. I did some very low viz dives in it, and it never felt like snagging. The reason I no longer dive it is that I moved to a backplate and wing. If you want to replace it, and it has got wet...

    Maintaining depth in blue water

If it's anywhere near the end if the dive, I tend to blob up and use the reel as a visual reference.

Has anyone ever failed a GUE class?

    Cool! :)

Has anyone ever failed a GUE class?

Vobster. I live in Epsom, so it's less of a drive for me than Capernwray.

Has anyone ever failed a GUE class?

Rich Walker. I'm really looking forward to it.

Has anyone ever failed a GUE class?

A friend of mine failed to get his T2 - I don't know if he got a provisional or not. He says he really didn't like virtual overheads, and so decided deep open water diving was not for him. I've signed up for Fundies in September in the UK. I'm not very good, so I may well have further feedback...

How To Experience Narcosis With Minimal Risk?

In the UK, it is around £50 for a 50m dive. So it is not too expensive. I recommend it, as others in the thread have said. I have no idea how much it is elsewhere.

Diving Tip of the Day... For Dummies.

In Scotland, I wandered down to the dive boat from my B&B in my jeans and jumper, and changed into my drysuit at the boat. After the dive, I went back to the B&B in my drysuit. I had left my keys, wallet and mobile on the boat.

Maldives Liveaboard: Mv Stingray, Trip Report / Dive Report April 2016

Thanks for the write up. I am going there soon... I think I have 8 UK dives (weather dependent) before I leave.

    What's In/on Your Bc?

Clipped off on shoulder strap D-rings: Primary light and 2 back-ups. On waist band D-ring: DSMB and reel, and I clip my SPG off there as well. On the harness: Knife and torch canister. In drysuit pockets: Spare mask, folding snorkel and magnifying glass (to look as squidgy stuff easily) in 1...

    London Divers?

No-one at Hellfins cares about agency. I trained with PADI initially, which is very common at the club. I also now have TDI as well as BSAC cards, and am toying with the idea of Fundies.... We even have some Ozzies!:)

    London Divers?

I am with Hellfins, a pretty active club. We meet near Victoria on Wednesdays, and go diving pretty frequently. We have plenty of instructors who can help you out getting used to a dry suit. There are plenty of other clubs in London - the BSAC ones are listed on BSAC's website. Send me a pm if...

    Average Number Of Dives...

I do use Wraysbury etc. on occasion - it's good to test new kit in a controlled environment, say. Vobster is probably my favourite of the quarries - we have a club trip there pretty soon.

    Average Number Of Dives...

Do you tend to use Vobster when you're blown out? I'm in London, and I don't really find Wraysbury an attractive alternative to the sea. I got 90 dives last year, with 80 in the UK and 10 in Bali.

    Your Favorite Repeat Travel Destination?

My favourite repeat dives are: 1) Plymouth (UK). For example, the JEL is a superb wreck. 2) Porthkerris, Cornwall (UK). Superb reef diving. 3) St Abbs, Scotland (UK). Also great reef diving. I've been to all of these 4 times. I've been to Portland (UK) many, many times, but it's a bit too close...

    Bucket List Diving

Scapa Flow is very good, and historically significant. (I have just finished a week diving there.) Malin Head may also be worth adding, although I've not dived there. The Farnes and Scilies are good for diving with seals.

New PADI DM seeks friendly UK club.

Hi I am a member of Hellfins. It's a brilliant club - we're based near Victoria. I can' t comment on other clubs, since Hellfins is the only one I know (cue Charlatans song. ) Let me know if you want to know more. It's worth checking our a few clubs near you to find one that gels. UK...

How often do you "Plan your dive, dive your plan"? Preliminary Survey Results

boulderjohn's post sums up my diving pretty well, which is club diving in the UK. Most diving days are 2-tank boat dives, with a wreck for the first dive. The second dive varies, but is typically a drift to collect food after a long surface interval. The planning is typically not hugely...

Very disappointing first London dive, not sure what to do next

To second what Edward has said, it's well worth looking at BSAC clubs. I'm a member of Hellfins, which I wholeheartedly recommend. It's worth contacting a few to see which ones gel with you. DIR-style diving and being in a BSAC club are not inconsistent - for example, there are a few GUE...

Hi from a complete newbie in Scotland

Scotland has some great diving: St Abbs is awesome, for example. So I would recommend joining a club. I am with a BSAC club, which is a great way of learning and getting on trips. I can't comment on other organisations, but there are alternatives such as PADI and SSAC clubs. It's worth meeting...
