    PST - E series 80?

Just got mine yesterday. Its a PST E780. 7.25" diameter, about 20" tall, 26# and -2 # empty. It did come with a HUGE PST sticker about 10". I dove with it and love it. It's a lot easier to carry since it's a few inches shorter and doesn't drag. So far I am happy with it.

    Tulum

The ferry from Cozumel to Playa Del Carmen is about 45 minutes. Then I am guesstimating 45 minutes to an hour south on Highway 307 to Tulum. Abyss operates a second shop in Tulum at the El Crucero Hotel which is at the entrance of the Tulum Ruins. Then after the ocean dive just a minute up...

Dive w/Dolphins Isla Mujeres Scuba Cancun

Actually, there is only one scuba with Dolphins program in the Cancun area that I know of. It is in Cozumel and run by Dolphin Discovery. They have Dolphin Swim programs on Isla Mujeres, Puerto Aventuras and Cozumel. But only one dive operation. They have a 10AM program which is an...

    Layering Wetsuit

I agree about not layering. Although your torso needs the heat, you can't forget about your arms and legs. With layering only your mid section it won't be long before your arms or legs start to cramp up.

Bare 7mm Arctic SGS fullsuit vs. non-SGS version

I own a Bare 3/2 Full Velocity suit. I love it. I have been rough on it and it has held up very well. Although there are other manufacturers that make good suits as well, I am going to order another Bare suit in the next week. Mostly because I know first hand that it is very comfortbale and...

    Car Rental for Riviera Maya??

I have been renting cars in Mexico for over 10 years and personally never had a problem. We rent in Cancun and drive down the main highway south to say Tulum and north. Most of the travel is during the daylight hours but we have been known to be delayed after enjoying some cold beverages. I...

    Weather in September

Hi Declan, Welcome to the board. I have been to Mexico in early, mid and late October and in the early to mi periods there is a lot of rain. And even if it doesn't rain, the winds soemtimes make the seas rough and the ports close. If you have your heart set on that date I would suggest...

    Down in Cancun

Hey Bomberodiver - CAT said there is rain on the way. Just a thought, If bad weather is coming, you can still plan a few dives in the cenotes. So what if it's raining outside! You've already experienced some of the reefs this would be a nice change of pace.

    Getting to Akumal from Cancun

Double ditto. I agree with the above posts that a bus is the cheapest way, but I would stop at Olympus or American Express booths at the exit of the airport. These companies run the vans (mostly to the hotel zone) but a few run down the coast. While a van service may be a few dollars more...

    Purchasing a camera in Coz?

If you order from a reputable camera shop in the US like B&H and if you know where you will be staying, have them send the camera via Federal Express or DHL to you in Mexico. I have had several things overnighted to me in the Yucatan over the years without incident. Alert the front desk to...

    Playa De Carman ?

Also in the neighborhood is Xcaret. Xcaret is a sister location to Xel-Ha and I think has more to see and do. Also, Xcaret does have a dive shop where you can do a 30-40 minute dive for about $40-45. There are two choices - barracuda reef or a small wreck. This way you can still dive and...

Recommendations for goods hotel in Cancun or Cozumel?

In Cancun a hotel not that well known but the only hotel we stay is Miramar Mission. Located about 2 blocks south of Plaza Forum it is in walking distance of a lot of the shopping so you save on cab or bus fare. They also have a really good brunch included and I am a big fan of their rooftop...

    Dive report from Cancun area

Hi Cat, been home already 1 week :( 23 more to go until we're back! That is unless Scott and Chris need help fixing your engine. You can then take me over to the site where you can still find old glass from the 1740 wreck of a Spanish merchant vessel. A guy I used to work with only has one...

    Referral/Op Recommendations for PDC area

Diving in Puerto Morelos with Cat Brown (Hi Cat!) or Scuba Mex in Paamul with John are both good decisions. They both run a good dive op and you can't go wrong with either. Heck, if you have time, why not give 'em each a day! I have personally been to both shops and met both of these...
