Dumped on by Diving Companies Again

I've never seen any trade up advertisement or been told that in any lds. On that note, why would I buy stuff from the company that screwed me in the first place. Are you employed by Dacor or something? Do you have a monetary interest in the company? Compared to the older stuff the new stuff...

    Dacor Closing UP??

So what is a "modern reg."? My 5 year old Pacer is not being supported with parts NOW. Try to get any sort of answer back from Mares/Dacor. If you do you've got better luck than I do. I hope the whole company goes out of business. I'll take all my business in the future to someone like...

    Quick Questions Re Diverite Transplate

I just put an extra long FredT backplate into service (I'm 6'3') and it fits great. I can't imagine using a standard length bp. The waist strap would be hella high on me if I did. This thing is rock solid and does not move on my back at all in any position.

New to Spearfishing-Going on trip 9/25-my 1st time using a gun and hunting!!!

The Empire Mica is an oil tanker that was sunk by a U-boat in 1942 I think. It's a great wreck that is pretty big. You can make a couple of dives and not see it all. There is always a huge school of resident barracuda on the wreck. They come in all sizes from 18" to over 6' long scarred up...

    Backplate?

What fun is it though if you can't wrap the drill up in it's own cord when it catches and skin a few knuckles? It takes blood, sweat, and beers to get any work done.:)

Split Fins in Strong Current and on Surface?

Is this where someone posts that SP Jet-fins are the best and if you use anything else you are likely to drown immediately and suffer horribly because we told you that they're the best?

    Capital City Dive Charters

We've been out with Capt. K and had a great time. Hoping to get out with him again soon. He's a super nice guy with a great boat (an even greater boat is coming soon!) and runs a good operation. He took us out and showed us where the fish were at. Steve

    Knife for Hunting

Any slender knife with a sharp point will do for braining fish. The one I prefer is the Wenoka Blackie Collins titanium knife. The shape and size is perfect. It's titanium so it will never rust. The sheath is great. Best of all it's only 29$ from leisurpro.com which is a sponsor of this...

    Prusik rope for reel

It would prolly take a lifetime for salt crystals to degrade rope core enough to make a diff. I've break tested several samples of my own rope. Some of it was tree climbing and bull rope that had been severly overloaded and very dirty. The rest of it was rock/caving kernmantle construction...

Dumped on by Diving Companies Again

I'd be alot less pissed about getting screwed by Dacor/Mares if I could get some sort of a response from them. Repeated tries to contact the company have failed. Even a "f-off and die" from them would be better. If someone had a legitimate prob. from one of their newer products they'd be just...

    Offended??????

Lauren, go to spearboard.com and look around. If you want to start a thread over there I'm sure you'll get all the answers you want and maybe a dive trip to boot! Brian, because I enjoy eating then I guess I enjoy killing things. I don't eat commercially caught fish. The few fish that I...

    Offended??????

Lauren, your question is certainly worthwhile and an answer can help you be less apprehensive about being around a speargun. The average speargun that you would normally see someone with would have an effective range of about 15-20 feet MAX. These spearguns would normally have a 10+ foot...

    Spear Fishing

MJH, I am interested in conservation as much as anyone else. I do not eat commercially caught fish, and never take anywhere close to my limit of fish. There is no way I could possibly consume that much. The vast majority of spearfishermen I know are aligned with my point of view. However...

    Spear Fishing

So why are you making the distinction between line fishermen and spearfishermen? I promise you that line fishermen have a greater impact than spearos. So why not go after them first? They are obviously the greater of two evils right? Or would that be counter productive for the eco-tourist...

    Sea Elite BCD

I've had a back inflation Sea Elite bc similar to a Dive-Rite trans-pac that I've had for several years. I SWEAR that the wing is identical to a Dive Rite wing. Side by side cannot tell the diff. The harness is ok. Finally starting to come apart from being beat to death. Would I buy another...

    Spear Fishing

But the point is if they can have this level of impact SF is only adding fuel to the fire…. The fact that you are failing to see though is that the percentage of spearfishermen is less and the bycatch is very minimal compared to the mortality rate of "catch and release" line fishing.

need info on dive shops and classes in ga

Diver's Supply on 41 is good for low priced stuff but don't expect anyone to know what they're talking about. Expect to see a diff. manager/victim in there on a monthly basis or every time you go in. The only other dive shop that I've been in around Marietta that either didn't have...

Reset anchor with diver in water?

I don't see what the big deal is. Was the diver drowning? No BC? Need a hand to hold? Where is the inherent danger in floating on the surface for a few (with a ton of people watching you) while the boat re-hooks? In a ripping current there is concern. If not though, what's up? What if you...

    Who dives Sea Elite?

I've had one of their bc's for a long time and have been happy with it. I also have a few wetsuits. Their suits are relatively inexpensive which is good because I wear them for abrasion/fish spine protection mostly. The stores are kind of a pain to deal with because there is a new manager...
