Not to start a flame war or anything

How right you are Scott! I've been sitting in traffic for 2 hours so I'm a little testy? ;)

    Most Significant Living Divers

Certainly anyone who goes "down under" and calls them "Austrians" would share the same fate. :eyebrow:

    Most Significant Living Divers

Uh-that was a joke. Do Austrians not participate in jokery?:)

Not to start a flame war or anything

Plungermartin, take this over to Spearboard.com and let's get it on. We can argue this to the death over there and prove you wrong. Anyway, all elitist freedive spearos claim that they are better spearos anyway due to lack of bubbles, stealth, etc. Why then would any freediver have a prob...

    First Scuba Cylinder Question

I've got a few of the N80's and have been extremely pleased with them over my regular AL80's. They definitely dive more like steel tanks and I can tell a difference when I dive a few regular 80's after burning up three neutrals in the morning. The regulars require about four additional lbs of...

    Pleural Mesothelioma

With that prognosis why NOT go diving? Maybe you'll get to enjoy the last moments of life doung something as great as diving.

    TV cave diving

So to sum up this thread: some people posting here are much better divers, explorers, historians, conservationists, tv producers, cameramen, geologists, etc., than anyone on DSD. Some people here should stop watching tv and sit in the dark. Some people will find fault with a 40mil winning...

    TV cave diving

I don't believe Chatterton ever had a steel rod in his hand. Couldn't see any major damage being done either.

Mares Parts and Service (split from Mares new limited edition)

Mr. Stefano needs to read some of the threads here about Dacor. I don't care what the Mares defenders say, if the Mares name is connected to the Dacor name by a slash (Mares/Dacor) then I should be able to get parts for both. The Dacor stuff that is obsolete is 6 years old. Now, looking past...

Wrist in a cast--is there any hope?

Go to your orthopaedist and get your cast change out for a fiberglass cast with Gore-Tex padding underneath. The Gore-Tex padding is a little more expensive but can be totally immersed etc. for showering and stuff. I've known 2 people that have dived with them with no Ill iffects and my wife...

    420 Stainless Steel Ha!

I've never even rinsed mine and it still looks new unlike the 5 or so SS knives I had before it.

What item of equipment was a waste of money?

    1. Jetfins-the dive shop "dude" when I first started said they were the best and I tried to like them for 3+ years but had to make someone take them away so I'd quit punishing myself and get good fins and be happy:) All the older divers I knew had traded them out for freediving fins. I should...

    Mask Straps

I have Tusa neoprene strap covers on all my masks and love them. They have velcro to separate the halves of the strap so it doesn't twist inside. I've never had a strap to twist inside the cover. I've got black ones but my wife has yellow and they make about every other color out there.

    420 Stainless Steel Ha!

Get a titanium knife and forget about it. This is the ONLY use for titanium in any diving application and well worth it due to its utter inability to corrode.

    question on bp&wing

If the single piece harness had a chest strap and a little bit of instant adjustment capability I would have to agree that the one piece is the most comfortable. I dive with no shirt at times and a 2 piece 7mm at others and the straps are not uncomfortable, I just like the feeling of the chest...

    question on bp&wing

I dive the OMS comfort harness now. I started with the one piece harness and found the OMS to suit my needs better. However, I trashed the shoulder pads after one dive. They have hardly any bouyancy but are way too bulky and actually make the harness uncomfortable. I for one like the chest...

    Shark Ride

So why is a shark more valuable than maybe a barnacle or something that you bunny huggers knock off the bottom of the boat on the way to look at pretty fishies? Both are living right? If the guy had no speargun and got eaten by the shark would you think that it was now an atrocity? If you...
