    Diving in or around Auckland

Thank you so much for your information! Sounds like the water temps are very simlar to what I was diving in today in Southern California. I was in my dry suit, but there really is no way I would bring that south for a 1-day trip. I don't know if I will have any transportation, I will have...

    Diving in or around Auckland

Hi there kiwis, I'll be coming down to visit you in Auckland from Dec 4 through 11, and was considering whether it would be worth it to take my dive gear. I'll realistically only have the day of the 10th. I'm flying out on Sunday night (the 11th), so I will have enough time beforehand so I...

    Dry Suit Latex Seal Repair

My dry suit same some very small holes in the latex neck seal. I have not noticed any leaks from these holes yet. They are probably the size of a pinhole if I stretch the latex seal out a bit and look into the sunlight, I can see them. Is there anythign I can or should do to patch these up...

Make this Friday the New Black Friday

Put on your wet suit or dry suit, which are usually black, or mostly black, and make Friday the New Black Friday! Avoid the shopping madness! Go diving, where there will definitely not be much in the way of crowds!

Tips for diving the CA coast.

Like the others have said, it can be cold here, especially if you are used to diving in Florida. I just took a dry suit class at Sport Chalet so that I can rent a dry suit ($50 for the first day, $30 each day after) when diving. I'm tired of being cold. I dove with a 7mm wetsuit and recently...

    Anyone going day after Thanksgiving?

We've decided to go out on the Sundiver Express on Friday. Hope I'll see some of you on there! It'll be a great way to work off the previous night's dinner.

    Anyone going day after Thanksgiving?

I'm trying to arrange a trip with a buddy of mine on Friday 11/26. I see there are several boats going out that say. Who has tried this? Did you find it difficult diving the day after Thanksgiving? I don't think I will be eating to excess, and probably going moderate on the wine... Any...

Trip Report - Hamanasi Oct 2-9

Hi all, for those considering going to Hamansi, I thought I would pass along my own experiences. First, I have to say it was the best vacation my wife and I have ever had! The attraction of Hamansi was two-fold: they are a small resort, and they have activities for non-divers (like my...

    Belize with teens...need advice

I hope I might be able to report on Hamansi after Oct 10. I'll be heading there this Saturday (assuming no hurricanes)

    How are the current conditions?

My wife and I are coming down a week from Saturday, and I was hoping to settle her about the current conditions. I see that there is Tropical Depression 15 in the area. My wife's Droid is making her think it is raining all day and we'd be spending our time in the hotel. Is it typical...

    Yukon tangent thread

Cool the replies seem to be slowing down! When I was in my wreck diving class at the Yukon Saturday morning, our instructor, who has over 400 dives at the Yukon, religiously sticks to the 1/3 1/3 1/3 rule. He has a 72 HP steel tank, and came up with about 900 PSI with a dive time of about 25...

Coast to Coast in October (any advice on choices?)

You may want to recheck with Water Horse to see if they will still be going out on that day. Check out the accidents and incidents thread, Water Horse lost a diver in the water, and left him behind. I don't know if they are still running their boat, but I would have some serious reservations...

    Yukon tangent thread

I've seen a lot of toxic comments in here. And a lot of wars going on. It seems like more of the comments are about attacking one another than remembering that one of our community did not make it back. Perhaps these toxic attacks should be taken up in another thread, I had to wade through 22...

    Great Whites off San Onofre

You know, coming from a surfing family, and having pretty much spent the first 13 years of my life at San Onofre, from what my sister tells me, who still surfs there regularly, not too many of them there that are concerned. It looks like he was in the south end of the beach, where all of the...

    Great Whites off San Onofre

Actually, the sharks were off San Onofre, not Dana Point. There have been some GW in the area of San Onofre for a few years now. Mostly smaller ones. Not that they are any less dangerous.....

    Catalina diving on 6 aug

Hey on_two_wheels, I have gone out on many a trip on the Magician, and I think pretty much every time there is a mixture of people sitting while eating after a dive, and others standing. Many of those times for myself after diving, I am feeling a bit cold, so I'd rather be outside warming up...

    Connecting a backup computer

Thanks for your replies. I knew someone would have a good answer. I think might have to get that splitter. The Sherwood Insight is mounted in a console, which also has the SPG and a compass on back. After I experienced an air integration failure on my Vyper Air today, a backup SPG would...

Suunto Wireless Air Integration Failure Correlation

Hi all, I have read many a thread where you talk about Suunto computer failures. I though I might start one to see if we can come up with a common scenario where they fail. I have read some people who say they seem to fail with the strobe of underwater cameras. Let me tell you my...
