    Another Deco profile post.

Actually, I think it would be the most efficient ... just not practical. The gradients for the limiting tissue at that point in time would be maximized through out the deco profile. The step-wise deco profile maximizes the gradients upon first reaching the depth and then the gradient is...

    Eon Steel dive computer

Sounds like hyperbole. Of the two AN/DP-equivalent courses I'm familiar with the respective agencies have minimum standards for equipment configuration and "any equipment the student wants to" use is not consistent with that. Also, one agency does not require a computer at all. The other agency...

Decompression Software reliability – how to assess?

I asked the same question a couple years ago and the conclusion was that there is not a suite of standard benchmarks for the different deco models that software developers use. So it is "trust me". I don't think this is the same as the medical device industry but more akin to the nuclear...

    Another Deco profile post.

When I read the OP's question, it appeared to me to be a question about further subdividing the deco stop depth intervals as opposed to taking some amount of time from a shallower stop and applying it to a deeper stop. The concept is that the shallowest depth allowed during decompression is a...

Diver dies at Molokai on Maui dive boat

Absolutely nothing in this thread would dissuade me from diving with LD if I was headed to Maui. Nothing in this thread indicates that the dive op caused or contributed to an initiating incident.

Annual Membership cost for SSI professionals?

If you got the SSI for $133 then that included the new "rewards" deduction. SSI renewal fee for OWI for 2017 is $185.

Diver dies at Molokai on Maui dive boat

I agree that the risk is increased but to think that the overall risk has increased other than a small increment is not the correct picture of risk profile. If the CG had been available, the boat would have waited for the CG. - risk not increased by waiting for someone with a deco obligation...

    Too Much Rust?

If there is visible / noticeable depth to a pit or clear material loss, I'd take it in to be checked or would have it checked before buying it. That's the criteria we generally use in the plant I work at to determine if we need to do NDE or measurements and then calculations to validate piping...

Can I transfer the air2 from my Knighthawk to my wing?

I'm struggling visualizing this ... but perhaps I have the right picture. You have a FFM and an Air2. What do you donate to an OOA buddy? Air2 is designed for you, not an OOA buddy. And I didn't think a FFM was donated. Perhaps this is my FFM ignorance.

First night dive.. error, task overload, abort

Others have covered it but I'll reinforce: 1. Move the backup light to a pocket or have it clipped off somewhere on your BC where you can get to it if your primary fails. I leave mine off during the dive after checking it when I first get into the water to make sure it didn't flood. 2. Learn...

    Too Much Rust?

All but the first three pictures just show cosmetic rust that does not affect the structural integrity and could be left alone. The first picture is harder to tell whether there is any depth to the corrosion. If no depth, then it's cosmetic and can be left alone. If there is any noticeable...

    Which submersible dive tables?

Check with your local dive shop. They should be able to find some that meet your needs. Or check online at the various scuba outlets (Leisure Pro, Scuba.com, Amazon).

Get some pop corn folks ;-)

I liked it. Three caveats that would change my mind: 1. If the Dad did not cautioned the kid about holding their breath and coming up. Don't know if he did or did not. But alveoli are fragile and an over-expansion injury can occur from shallow water such as a pool. 2. If the experiment was...

    Trip Report - G & G's Clearwater Paradise Resort, 7/30 - 8/6

The wife and I participated in a group trip to G&G's Clearwater Paradise Resort on Guanaja last week. It was a good, fun dive adventure with an interruption by T.S. Earl mid-week. G&G's Clearwater Paradise is located on the north side of Guanaja across the bay from Mangrove Bight and only...

AL40 for redundancy diving single tank on deeper dives.

Using a jacket is just fine if the jacket has good waist and shoulder d-rings and a method to rig a good bungee to bring the tank valve in tight under the armpit. This won't work with all jackets (e.g. travel BC) but a number will do fine with this rigging.

Would you use 50% for inflation with heated undergarments?

and then there was the guy that had a heating patch on his back during a drysuit dive and received 2nd degree burns when the oxygen increased the rate of chemical reaction in the heating patch. But this is a bit different than an electrically heated device. However, "Worked for me" is not...

    Critique A Beginners Dive Profile

From the different answers being provided, it should now be clear that there is no one recommendation for maximum ascent rates or safety stops. Each agency has it's own recommendation. If you stick to how you were trained, you will, in all likelihood, be ok. As you gain more experience and...
