Could be. But in the states, the reason for this is more likely liability. Dive ops in the states would not take me on a trip >60 ft without AOW and would not take me on a trip to >100 ft with only PADI AOW (I needed the deep specialty.) And I presumed liability as the reason since they...
There is a small store at the West Bay mall that has those light items. It's at the entry road to Bananarama so very close to Infinity Bay. And, I agree, take advantage of the produce truck. Ask at Bananarama when to expect it.
For the fresh fish, ask one of the guys at the dock or on the beach...
No to all questions. Would I accept the risk and descend to help? It depends. If it's clearly life and death for the buddy? I think I would accept the risk. Or I'd like to think I would if there is clear probability of being able to perform a successful rescue. If I don't see a reg in the mouth...
Dogs can handle that length of time with no problems. My dogs sometimes have to manage 13 hours.
One possibility would be leaving the dog at the dock and relying on assistance from a dive buddy for balance assistance while on the boat. Heck, this happens normally if the deck is pitching /...
I've always been taught, and I am aligned with my instruction, that it's my responsibility to ensure the water is clear prior to entry. It doesn't matter whether it's a back roll or a giant stride.
It makes sense to me to use IWR as qualified first aid. But similar to CPR, and I'm sure other first aid treatments I can't recall off the top of my head, it should be utilized under trained/qualified individuals lest the treatment make the condition worse or just delay proper treatment with no...
I thought squid but someone else said cuttlefish. There were two and they scooted off when approached but came back when we backed off. Never seen that behavior with other squid sitings. They were also about 50% bigger than the squid I've seen.
My wife and I are flying out Saturday. Saw two cuttlefish today. Not sure how the pics turned out yet. And a juvenile sanddiver. Will see if there is anything post-worthy this eve.
Sharpnose puffer, Pappagallo, Grand Cayman north shore a couple hours ago.
Lotsa rain and lightning this morning but went out of Morgan's Harbor where the lightning wasn't and the rain was not a torrent.
This one is better ... just off the Cobalt Coast resort dock. And there were a couple of water spouts north of West Bay, north end, this afternoon. A mile or so off shore ... Pretty and no threat.
Likely the weight belt loosened up as depth increased and body compression occurred. The gas spaces in the gut compress, too. I'm a big guy and often find the need to adjust the cummerbund when I get to the bottom. Likely the weight belt wasn't particularly tight to begin with, too. Couple that...
For night shore dives, after doing Spooky Channel as a shore dive or boat dive, it makes a good shore night dive, too. There are plenty of landmarks to aid in the navigation during the surface swim. Only issue I had was that there were some minor hydroids in the sea grass on the way.
Also, I recommend spending a little extra money and taking the PADI eLearning prior to heading down. Nothing sucks worse than having to study on vacation. Having all the academic work done really helped when I did AOW and Rescue in Roatan (different trips.)
