Since GPS signals won`t penetrate more than a few thousanths of an inch of water, I`m assuming that you have to tow a surface float to get this system to work.
I`m really interested to learn more and can`t wait for your March release.
My route to my Open Water certificate was a bit unusual.
I had been buddy diving and solo diving for many years with my wonderful wife dutifully following me on the surface in a dinghy.
After 35 years of this she met a few other female divers and decided to learn how to dive. I'm a horrible...
My simple take on this is that some extra air is better than none. more extra air is better.
I started with a 6 cu ft pony, then progressed to a 13 cu ft. Pony and am now using a 19 cubft. Pony.
Was told by more experienced divers that a small amount of extra air could lead one to believe that...
Sorry about your accident and thank you for the suggestions.
Another thing to look out for is fish hooks in the ropes that are often used to mark a wreck. Fishermen like to tie onto the float at the top of the rope and fish the wreck. The hooks get caught in the rope and break off when the...
Our Certification History is part of the details stored in our SB Account. I assume that it would be possible for one of the SB board members to compile this information for us all to learn.
Noticed a nice size barracuda eying me while cleaning the bottom of the boat. Didn't get too excited and continued on. Looked again a few minutes later and it had multiple friends licking their toothy face and all of them looking at me. At that point the bottom looked "clean enough".
My older brother was in the USA Air Force and stationed in Athens. Brought home a spear gun for me when I was 16 years old. Learned to dive and later got into scuba when certification was not required to rent SCUBA. Dived for many years before finally getting certified.
Hi Kevin,
Welcome to Scuba Board.
You lucky guy. How old is your son?
My son started scuba diving at age 14 and we've been diving together for 26 years. I hope you get as much enjoyment diving together as we have.
Bert
Hi SayNo2Snow,
Our summer is the reverse of yours so the end of summer is 7 April. The most settled weather is in Feb/March.
Hope you have a wonderful time. I dive at the Poor Knights often so drop me a line when you get plans settled. Maybe we can dive together. (I'm 71 and been diving for...
You could try New Zealand. The Poor Knights is rated to be one of the top 10 dive spots in the world.
Friendly people who speak English and the flights from Australiar are not expensive. You could fly from. Australia to New Zealand and then home from New Zealand.
Opposite problem here... the wife hasn't been diving nearly as long as me so she runs out of air first. I use her octi when returning her to the boat so my residual air lasts longer and I can stay down a bit longer
We used our Brownies third lung hookah so much that we needed to replace two if them. Not because they failed but started to look a bit ragged and didn't want to chance a failure. Used them almost every day for two years.
They are great for diving in remote locations where you can't get air...
My wife failed her dry suit class because at age 69 she was too tired to do the required removal of the BCD and weight belt after satisfying all the other required skills. The instructor offered to allow her to pass if she could demonstrate the skill in the pool. She decided to forego the...
Not sure but believe the Solo card is required by most dive ops. The Solo course teaches you about redundant equipment needs as well as techniques. Solo is one of the specialties offered in order to get the Master Diver card.
