Why can't the 30/30 be used for cold water too?

Ditching 38lbs at the surface might make room for more undergarments ;)

Would Oxycheq consider selling an El Cheapo version of the Expedition CO?

My fusion - 100 dives later

Succumbing to temptation, I've just placed an order for a Fusion Sport.:) Mike Pedersen at Dive Right in Scuba has been really helpful with selecting the suit size and undergarments. He says the suit should arrive at their shop in a fortnight or so, but I'm looking forward to an earlier (MUCH...

    computer redundancy

Let me be an ass:dork2:, and complicate things. :D Do computers A and B have the same circuit boards, running the same version software? Seriously, just using the same decompression model doesn't guarantee two computers being identical, and in my mind, identical means having the same...

    computer redundancy

Well, I reasoned that if the computer died, I can still fall back on the gauge and start looking up the tables. In the unlikely event that the one in gauge mode dies, I still have the computer running calculations for me. Maybe I'm not exactly thinking redundency, but more towards a contingency...

    computer redundancy

I dive two Stingers. As rox@ucf said, when there's a discrepancy between the two, which should I trust? Then another thought. If both computers are used under identical conditions, and an unforeseen software glitch kills both computers at the same time? Since I couldn't find an answer to both...

Apeks DIN to Yoke, opinions please

Same here. I also dive an Apeks that comes with a DIN valve. Where I can't get a DIN valved tank, I use a yoke adaptor. As for the 1st stage sticking out, I haven't had my head banged yet. Though I have been using the adaptor, my LDS suggests I should buy a yoke connector and some tools, get...

Best of the best dork gear

Hmm. When I first saw the Whites Fusion Bullet in blue, I thought it looked like a Star Trek outfit. But this 7mm is the real deal.

    Which BCD for a Girl

I bought my wife a Halcyon BP/W, and she likes it too.Me paying for the "H" tax helped too, may be? Actually, I was watching Into the Blue a couple of hrs ago. If only I had known this kind of thread was running, I would have looked harder. MMM, your post reminded me my wife isn't exactly...

Little Lady looking for a Long Hose

I'm thinking those against the 7' hose most likely have never dived a BP/W. With a BP/W the webbing at the waist conveniently doubles as a long hose retainer, but how about a jacket BC? Imagine shoving the excess hose in and under a jacket BC, like wearing a muffler.

Unable to turn off the i-torch

Hi Doug, Actually, I'm getting concerned. Thats because, the body looks identical to your 4AAA model, and has identical logos, +--------------<snip>------------------+ Edit: Just been told that the URL I posted originally was actually their distributor's. My concerns that I may have bought a...

Unable to turn off the i-torch

Hi, I bought two itorches, one with a narrow beam and the other with the wide angled beam, both running 4AAAs. The beam patterns were good under water, and as recreational diving lights, I thought they were both well designed and affordable. The only issue I had was, I couldn't turn off the...

From Kansai and making my first trip to Ishigaki/Nago

Hello from Tokyo I believe it's OK, as long as you pack the pole spear so that its not readily visible. Your luggage allowance for economy class is 20kg in Japan, with total linear dimensions 203cm or less. Excess baggage charges may be applied, but how stringently may vary. As long as you're...

Halcyon Infinity harness - (big pics)

I bought my wife one a couple of weeks ago. She likes the ease of use and adjustability, saying its just as easy to wear as the rec BCD's she used to rent. The elegance in design, simply adding a piece of plastic replacing weight stoppers, allowing the adjustability really impressed me. In...

    Diving Kerama islands -- accommodation?

I haven't been there, but found diving services with accommodation on Geruma island, http://www.geruma.com/ and Tokashiki island http://www.seafriend.jp/ As you can see from the above pages, English information is unavailable. Guessing from this, those diving services may not readily cater to...

From Kansai and making my first trip to Ishigaki/Nago

Hi Nanjarou, Did you know the Japan Coast Guard releases ocean surface temperature maps on a daily basis? http://www1.kaiho.mlit.go.jp/KANKYO/KAIYO/qboc/2010cal/tp0/qboc2010057tp0.html According to this map, water temp reads 25deg centigrade for Ishigaki on 25th Mar. Warm enough to go diving in...
