Spot to Launch a Dive Kayak on Cape Ann?

Lane's Cove has a boat ramp off to the left. Old Garden Beach and Back Beach would also be fairly easy to get into the water. I'd only attempt to bring a kayak to Cathedral if I had a death wish.

Florida lobster- individuals that don't taste quite right

Often times lobster that have just molted do not taste very good. They can also be extremely mushy - so much so that none of the meat is solid/firm. I don't know how true it is, but I did a little poking around when I got my first mushy lobster thinking it was bad. While not directly related to...

    overboard dry bag backpack

Looks nearly identical to one I own. Just different branding. I like mine, seems plenty durable, but I can't truly speak to its dryness as I've never had it in the drink. http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B004BTSUI0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    DIR in everyday life

Are you kidding me? I demand a full refund on the DIR-in-Life class you sold me last week. And the overpriced backup accessories that were a pre-requisite to the class, too, or I'll file a BBB complaint. :banghead:

Uni project that involves diving & looking after our oceans - I need your help

I'm going to hold you to it. I have your e-mail from the files you uploaded in the NE forum! Good luck - I know how painful it is to get survey participants from personal experience.

External storage options, GoPro to iPad

Perhaps some tech-savvy user here can invent an external storage device capable of copying and/or transferring files directly from the camera. They could also have an LCD screen for playback or to select files. Retail price of $1,000 for the convenience of not having to lug around a laptop. Ha!

How will my weight loss affect weights needed?

I'd think you'd be safe dropping 1-2 lbs, but only a weight check will be able to tell you that for sure. Try out a weight calculator - Estimated Diving Weight Calculator. I plugged in my current weight and weight - 20 pounds with a bathing suit and got the same lead figure. With exposure...

Uni project that involves diving & looking after our oceans - I need your help

I'm done. When do I receive my "free" dive trip to the Great Barrier Reef? :rofl3:

    Venting to get some sleep

It sounds like you have a very good head on your shoulders. Most of my childhood was filled with screaming between my parents. The only difference between you and I is that I begged my mother to get a divorce in order to have some semblance of a normal life again. Life can be tough and often...

Hoseless computer alone or with backup

Get an analog backup. While I don't own or dive with an AI computer, just this past Saturday, a gentleman had to abort due to his computer not reading his tank pressure. It was a long, steep hike hauling all of the gear and tanks, too.

    1000 Lumen Dive Light - SORRY :)

Yes it would be. While I'm starting rumors, why not make it the New and Improved DRIS 2k? I'll be waiting, too.

    Are dry snorkels dangerous?

Most times I dive with a snorkel up here in NE - a dry snorkel. I prefer surface swimming face down rather than on my back and a regular J-tube would lead to more saltwater ingestion than I'd care for. Like TN-Steve, I prefer a dry snorkel than a wet one. Perhaps there is some skill or...

    1000 Lumen Dive Light - SORRY :)

I love mine, but it replaced was relegated to a backup since I was sent a DRIS 1800 prototype to test. Nice and tight 8 degree beam angle, too. Sorry, I just woke up from reality. Must be a little narc'd from diving earlier... :blinking:

    Cape Ann Massachusetts Divers?

I usually go out every Saturday. Dive clubs galore meet at BK on 128 in Beverly every weekend.

Great photos. Love the first one.

    Versatile suit set ups?

I dive with a 7mm suit and 7mm hooded vest in NE. Early season temps will be in the mid-40s and "warm" at depth is 50-56. If you don't chill too easily, 12 on the core should be fine, but perhaps not ideal.

has anyone felt advance warning of lung squeeze before?

Good on you for scheduling an appointment out of an abundance of caution. ScubaBoard is full of an abundance of knowledge, including many in the medical field. If ever in doubt, I would suggest giving Divers Alert Network (DAN) a call rather to get a more immediate answer. They will field all...

    New England Scuba diving promos

I've never seen a Maine-style lobster up here, but I did cook a nice New England lobster from Back Beach in Rockport today, just a stone's throw down the road from your nice backdrop at Front Beach. Vis sucked today, though. Just teasing. Neat videos.

It's also cheaper (I think $30 compared to $100 or so for a passport).

    Scuba assault investigation - Hawaii

It's a hard incident to judge as there are too many questions of what led up to the event. I can say, though, that lingering too long to retrieve a regulator or look for an alternate does not necessarily mean she was calm and the event was staged. I couldn't imagine how I'd react to such an...
