Why do you charge for membership? I belong to a club called Power Scuba (Power Scuba (aka Scuba Diving in San Diego County) (La Jolla, CA) - Meetup) here in San Diego its free to join. We do wavers at the events.

I think what you are seeing is specific to that dive shop. Divers and the sport of diving is so diverse I don't think you can generalize at all. Unfortunately, in Oklahoma you may be pretty limited in finding the right crowd.

Lots of opinions on this, I personally don't worry about it. Beware, some dive shops that don't use the E filter will scrape your O2 clean marking if they fill it.
