I just took Fundies... and yes : the class itself is physically, mentally, and emotionally demanding. I'm now going to pursue my own skills buoyancy/ trim before I attempt to finish this class. Believe me when I say : It was a humbling experience.
I have a Fourth Element Arctic one piece - and yesterday on my first time trying I reached that valve.
My Fundies instructor was almost speechless. I was told that it's very rare to get that valve the first time.
Best way for me was to get tilted way head down, and let that tank just tilt...
Getting out of an ascent - when your drysuit legs are way floaty - is the one skill I remember teaching the most during my old PADI divemaster days. You kick like hell until you can get those legs back down then dump air quickly from the left shoulder vent.
I love my CF200x drysuit and wont go...
Found a great back plate/ wing with one piece webbing and a cutting tool... 35 lbs of lift. It was $ 350.00 That's kind of unheard of in the traditional BCD sense.
I like it, but previously I dove a DUI Delta BCD for years - and that thing was really comfortable.
Wanted to write up my thoughts on how I installed KUBI 90mm dry glove system on my DUI CF200x drysuit w/ zip seals. ** If you’ve done this I’d like to hear any feedback on how you did your own install and post-dive feedback is appreciated !
I should start with mentioning: I was very happy with...
I really need some better dexterity in the water...my current blue smurf gloves are terrible.
Make me an offer if you have the KUBI 90mm ring set.
Thanks,
Jim
My left shoulder webbing - wants to slide off...so Im adjusting it only about a half an inch. Right side is fine.
I also need to burn the edge w/ a lighter on the very end of the strap itself. Too frayed after just a few dives.
Otherwise I'm pretty happy w/ the SS BP/ Wing from GolemGear so...
Merry - these are fantastic ! Thanks for putting those online. Isn't that one photo of Bull Kelp - where you're not sure of the id on it ? Photo 16 of 21 ? scientific name: Nereocystis luetkeana (if I believe the google).
I've had one dive - where I vomited through the reg...twice, before I was up and on the surface. I suspect contaminated air in the cylinder. Was renting tanks in Kauai.
I've had one dive - where I didn't turn my tank valve all the way open. Very beginning of the dive, maybe 4 FSW. Felt like I...
RB is just a different thread altogether.
Once you're set up w/ a nice doubles rig - I get it - you require two identical size tanks. Having one fail hydro means you're in this weird world of finding a perfect match cylinder- so you can keep the doubles set-up going.
The weighting and...
This sounds so familiar to me..I had a Faber LP 95 fail hydro yesterday.
When I went to the LDS in Lynnwood WA to pick up the one that had passed - they made me an offer.
I paid for the hydro on both tanks - $ 50.00 ea; and if I buy a used tank from them
( Faber LP 90 ) they would put the $...
avscmichael - I read through your post and started thinking about it. I'd rearrange the order in which you'd purchase gear. I'd really put the dive computer towards the bottom of your list.
For me - it would be something like drysuit, BCD, ( or a back plate/ wing ) then reg, octo, spg, bottom...
The OP mentions $ 700.00 for AL80's...that seems like an outrageously high price. I can get two AL80's off craigslist right now @ $ 50.00 a pop. AL80's are ubiquitous...all...over...the...place. Or does the OP mean the tanks, the back plate, the wing, and a reg set ?
