    New deco planning tool

If you're looking for feedback, this is a big mistake, IMHO. Trying to set the depth, it changed as I lifted my finger from the slider. Three times. Maybe I'm an idiot. But I can type 100 way faster than I can slide to that value and have it stay there. Also, the complete loss of deco gas is...

    Reset of Average Depth

You could inflate the overall average by half the descent proportion. It's not exact, but will be close for the likely small proportion. If descent was 3 mins and ascent occurred at 30 min runtime, the descent was 10% of the time, so inflate by 5%. For a 100 ft bottom depth, the overall average...

    Water inside first stage?

It is the ambient pressure side that is sealed. The tank side is not. If that was an ocean dive, there'll be some salt left over in the reg. I'll leave it to the experts to weigh in on whether to service or not.

What time does your alarm ring in the morning? 😉

Error a death off Ulua Beach, Maui, has me wondering about scuba safety

Conditions are typically very tame there. I suspect the diver had a medical issue.

    Reset of Average Depth

No idea as to the OP's rational, but I've done it to benchmark a section of the dive for consumption calculations made during the SI (class setting). I can also see it being useful to characterize a certain area of the dive (e.g., an up & down cave section), excluding other parts of the dive...

Flying after diving if computer shows all compartments cleared?

Just noticed that longer dives yield a "Danger" group identifier. While that's unsurprising when pretending a multi-level dive occurred at max depth, the estimated flight time seems to ignore that dive (and is dangerously early). In such cases, it's probably best to punt and just return 18 hours...

Flying after diving if computer shows all compartments cleared?

Minor nit: "bottom time" for the NOAA/Navy tables is from leaving the surface to leaving the bottom (i.e., including the descent). A potentially very useful improvement would be to incorporate the dive site elevation. I have seen various threads in the past from folks wondering about wait time...

The Journey to Decompression Procedures with Sidemount

Feel for the plastic flange/cover. You'll find the string right in the middle after that.

    Standard gasses

Wouldn't 12/65 be the better choice, then? Especially considering you're using it on dives as shallow as 170 ft? [edit: and it gives the target 1.2 at 90m]

Suggestion Is it possible to use an AI tool to summarize long threads?

Many of the Autopagers will quickly yield the entire thread by scrolling, which can then be saved/uploaded.

    Standard gasses

Presumably the 10/70 in order to hit a dil PO2 of 1.0 at max depth? Much of the cave diving community likes running a dilout matching the setpoint, and I've found I also prefer it for OW. It'll still drop a high PO2 pretty fast, but the lesser impact for depth variations (the normal use case) is...

    Balancing Heavy Fins

That's a very common trend. Light fins for wetsuit, heavy for drysuit.

He didn't say you were incompetent. He just related what works for most of the divers who have this stuff figured out.

    Balancing Heavy Fins

Because they're negatively buoyant. (Same thing with similar fins.) Without the mass of a backplate, heads-up trim is often present on SM. This is further exacerbated by a wetsuit (especially for thinner suits) because the displacement (i.e., buoyancy) in the leg area is less than that of the...

DIR- Generic Marked stages filled with lower O2?

Another angle... The MOD of my 50% bottle is 80 ft because I dive at altitude. However, I switch to it at 70 ft and use a 70 ft MOD sticker because I also dive at sea level. (So does everyone in the team.) Is it bad that we're using "mismarked" bottles? I don't think so, it's just a more...

DIR- Generic Marked stages filled with lower O2?

I've been hesitant to respond, but some of the above sounds similar to using a color-coded regulator to ID the gas in a tank. I think everyone would agree that's a bad idea, but isn't equating a 21m MOD sticker to 50% kind of the same thing? The analysis tape on the neck is the authoritative...

THE "PERFECT ( being horizontal ) TRIM" HOAX

The extraction is not, but on OC the residual O2 in an exhalation (about 17%) is lost along with everything else. On CC it's recirculated with a little top up to replace what was metabolized.

    Modified ratio deco

Open question as to how long it's negligible after the Nx dil flush. I'd love to get a download from a Liberty diver with the He sensor history. My suspicion is by the time you get to 70 ft on a ~100m dive, the off-gassing is predominantly N2.
