    New deco planning tool

First stop is at 10 ft. Subsurface puts NDL at 100 ft on air at 5 mins. Staying for 6 mins has the ceiling at 2.4 ft when leaving the bottom and 1.9 ft when arriving at the 10 ft stop. I understand you've setup a scenario where the tissue pressure is below the GFL-tolerated amount at the...

New toy: Deep6 Excursion, new firmware

https://subsurface-divelog.org/current-release/ You will need to side-load the Android app (install outside of the Google Store). Directions are on the Android page, but requires uninstalling the Google-installed version first. Hopefully dives are in the Subsurface cloud.

    New deco planning tool

Very likely the same, but you can turn on "all tissues" in the profile window to see which tissue is controlling the ceiling.

    New deco planning tool

Your tool, your call. I don't foresee many people doing it, but there's no physics-based reason to have that constraint. In fact, if Eric Baker (who came up with GFs) had called them GFdeep and GFsurface, then I'm sure that no one would conceive of such a constraint.

    Question O2 sensor calibration

Best bet is to see if you hit a PO2 of 1.6 with a humid loop at 7m.

    Question O2 sensor calibration

Yes, it's water vapor. Water vapor saturation pressure at body temperature is 47.1 mmHg = 0.06 bar. A fraction of 6% at 6m/1.6 bar is a partial pressure of 0.1 bar, leaving 1.5 bar for other gases. (One can quibble about the temp, but it'll be pretty close.)

Best way to lubricate yourself to get into a wetsuit?

Not sure what type of neoprene you're talking about. Open-cell neoprene needs lube. If you struggle to get into a closed-cell/lined suit when dry, then it's simply too small.

    Fathom MKIII crossover and comparison.

In Mexico with Third Dimension, it was probably Lola-manifolded AL40s for dilout. Steel LP50s are the other common choice in various places. When you need a lot of Dilout (e.g., caves), dual off-board cylinders are often side mounted: LP85s, AL80s, LP108s, etc. There are lots of options...

Parachute effect with fin and bootie fit. Added bonus: How deep should these booties go into the fin?

Overthinking it WRT "parachute drag". Water is incompressible, so on the recovery stroke, the "block" of water in the pocket acts like a brick pushing other water out of the way. On top of that during the glide, the pocket is hidden by your torso. I'm assuming your pictures are representative...

What undergarment for drysuit are you wearing?

I don't think the Arctic is enough by itself for the Great Lakes in a trilam. I was quite comfortable in Arctic+Xerotherms in 39-42°F water on my last trip. Buddy says the Halo-AR is slightly warmer than that combo and less bulky/restrictive. Personally, I'd say dry gloves are also a must.

    Pee valve explaination

Yes. With Willie at 12:00, the initial pee is easier if you're horizontal, since you're not fighting gravity.

    New deco planning tool

Subsurface is one tool that allows GFLow > GFHigh. A comparison for a 60 min dive to 100 ft on 32% for the same surfacing GF: 50/75: 40 min TTS (3 min/30 ft, 13 min/20 ft, 21/10 ft) 80/75: 38 min TTS (10 min/20 ft, 25 min/10 ft)

    New deco planning tool

Sorry to break it to you, but ChatGPT doesn't realize that greater supersaturation at depth is an intentional characteristic of ZHL-16. (Even GFs like 70/80 yields greater supersaturation at depth than near the surface.) The fact is that something like 80/70 (yes, GFLow greater than GFHigh)...

    Knobs on dump valves?

I have a figure-8 knot as close to the housing as I can (perhaps 1/4" or 6mm). I find the housing, then the knot with thumb and index fingers, then just pinch to let a spurt of air out. I almost never need to "pull hard" for a substantial release of gas, but I guess I could if needed. The knot...

    Thinking of replacing current regulator

Turret down increases head room for when you tip your head back. If doing primary donate (7 ft, 5 ft, or 40 in hose run under your arm), run it out the end-port and angle the 1st stage slightly.

Nitrox Rule of Thumb 32 vs 40

It's fine on a mandatory deco stop, but a PO2 of 1.4 is the recommended limit during the bottom portion. This avoids a cascade of issues. When "working" (e.g., kicking against a current), CO2 buildup is a consideration. (It's more difficult to exhale gas as you go deeper, and studies have shown...

Curious: Are AL80's unusual on Maui?

Everyone on the Lahaina Divers boat had 80s when I used them in 2021. They may still have 72s, but we weren't presented with a choice. @pauldw, perhaps send that shop an email asking for clarification. If it was a disconnect by the website company, I'm sure they'd like to know!

Curious: Are AL80's unusual on Maui?

I wonder if it's a mistake and actually meant AL100s. AL80s are everywhere in Maui.

An age-old question: ways to 60m.

Since you have AN/DP, you could start CCR with Helitrox. Just understand that OC is far more forgiving if you can't dive on a regular basis.
