Riding GF99 instead of mandatory/safety stops

No, this is flat out wrong. The authors supporting the O2 window specifically state inert gas transport is driven by the inspired inert gas partial pressure. That means the benefit gained is a FN2 of 60 (for Nx40) vs 79% -- a relative increase of 24% faster N2 reduction. Your choice to do that...

    DeepTools planner

Could be a unit conversion issue if using imperial internally. Try setting the switch depth in the gas page to 6.1 m or 7 m.

    Suggested 02 Bank Storage Bottle?

Using two AL80s (starting at 3000 psi) to transfill a 2L after 3 hrs of diving (ballpark 1900 psi/130 bar used, reserve > 1 hr), you can get about 15 hrs of diving in before having to top up the O2 bank. (Adjust to your needs, of course.) I wouldn't mind having a booster, but the acquisition...

    Pee Valve Long Surface Interval

Bingo, just a little walk into the weeds. If on a boat, I'll just stand on the ladder (depending on conditions, of course).

    Pee Valve Long Surface Interval

Most divers I know just pull the head/arms out & leave the legs & catheter hooked up. Been in 105 deg air temp (with water about half that), it's not a huge issue to remove the upper layer(s). For me, it's too much work to take the suit completely off until I'm done for the day. That said...

If you use a long hose configuration...

Neither is an issue, and I think you're over thinking this. You will easily see them if below you. If behind/above, there's enough slack for them to start breathing if they pull from the right. If they pull from the left you will naturally rotate giving more slack.

If you use a long hose configuration...

@Racer_X if you're fairly horizontal (which you should be to avoid stirring up the bottom), the long hose will easily slide up the back of your head if someone steals it. (That's assuming you don't have the awareness to see them coming.)

Question Choptima Rebreather Users and Trimming

Some use a strap & boltsnap to attach the Choptima behind their neck rather than clipped to upper D-rings. I'm not a choptima diver, so just throwing it out there for thought.

Not having dumpable weights on BPW

I should hope so, and that's probably too much to dump in many cases. If properly weighted in a 7mm, you should be neutral around 10 ft at reserve tank pressure and empty wing. If you are at the end of a dive near reserve pressure and dump 6 lbs, you will be +6 lb buoyant at 10 ft and...

Fixing diver trim and weight placement

If the center of the gas is in the center of the wing, that wing position is good. That means taller tanks will have higher valves, but I wouldn't expect the 1/2" taller AL100 to impact things noticeably. Do note that some wings have only a single position, so some iteration in tank position...

Fixing diver trim and weight placement

Fix trim at 500 psi by moving trim weight. Then adjust wing position to fix trim with a full tank. (Both done in the pool.) Ideally the wing would be empty for the first phase; but if you're a bit overweighted, you may have to iterate these steps a second time. I've found the shift in center of...

    Doubles Bolts Too Long (Again)

Jaime Coleman already gave you the clue. 😉 Normally if present, that middle nut is on the other side of the space and locks against the "head" side. [ETA: see @iointerrupt's image above.] The purpose is to prevent the bolt from spinning when you try to disassemble the bands. The OP's nut as...

    Review Diving the Avelo System

No, the rig is still typically negative because it has to balance the non-rig sources of positive buoyancy -- i.e., the wetsuit and diver (moreso in salt water). This characteristic is shared by the Avelo rig, by the way. Hopefully that's obvious. Yes, if a traditional rig has a wing failure...

    Doubles Bolts Too Long (Again)

Assemble with the BPW so you can see how much bolt sticks above your speednut. Use a hacksaw/sawzalll/multi-tool to cut that much off the bolt and clean up / lightly round the corners of the end with a file. No need to disassemble the bands.

I tested that theory: not even a mark on the hose.

Brand new to diving- just doing my online PADI stuff. Losing weight- can I only rent equipment?

I've used these scuba specific socks, but after losing one, I just use normal, thinish athletic socks. The point is to reduce rubbing/chafing. I actually use them with my booties/open heel fins (after getting open blisters after a week in Cozumel with 4x dives per day). Full foot fins are fine...

Tec Diving Journey / Seeking Advice

    A) learn to back kick B) breathing slow & deep does not work when trying to maintain precise depth. Fortunately, you're not doing anything, so you don't need large breaths. As you are laying in bed tonight, make note of your inhale volume and timing. Match that on deco. Adjust the wing to be...

Fixing diver trim and weight placement

Salt water will have to add ~5 lbs to freshwater values (2.4% of your weight+gear+tank weight) because of the higher density. Also, when properly weighted, you would be neutral at the safety stop with empty wing at reserve pressure. The only difference before that is the weight of the...

Fixing diver trim and weight placement

Its less of a buoyancy point than your wetsuit. I say don't go down that rabbit hole of thought. I would leave the backplate in the "normal" spot (can barely reach the top) with arms loose enough to easily enter/exit (at least a fist of space from chest). Position the tank where you can reach...
