Reaching your valves and being able to manipulate them is a skill that needs to be mastered. If you are aware of your surroundings and avoid contact with the valve you will be fine.
Locking valves in an open position will cause impact damage...
Do not underestimate the technology and expertise Musk can bring to the think tank. Diving is not the bit he is interested, he is an innovator and problem solver. That could be usefull with the predicament they currently face.
Diving on a bus during AOW does not make you a qualified wreck diver, there is specialised training for wreck diving.
Technical wreck diving is not an open title...
Suunto’s generally speaking is more conservative that other DC’s IMO but that is not a bad thing.
The Shearwater products are fantastic and allows you the freedom to choose the level of conservatism. Either computer will work fine, its down to what you prefer/like.

The dring on the buttplate is to secure the bottom of the stages via boltsnap, mine is bungee based. You dont use the waste drings, you mount on the butt.
Olariuas: Halcyon plate with buttplate attachment. I have 2 sets of d-rings on my chest area. The top drings is my working area for torches, markers and safetyspool.
The lower d-rings secure the stages via the rings, the rings have bungees to the back of the plate tucking the stages...
I am not sure sealant is going to help, worth a try thou.
IMO you will have to replace the zip $$$$
The previous owner IMO shafted you, he knew it leaked....
