Going to El Paso Jan 6 -10th or 11th

Texas is a HUGE state. From where I live, it takes me 10 hours to reach the Louisiana border. From there it takes me another 5 hours to get to Pensacola, FL. San Solomon Springs in Balmorhea is a nice, relaxing dive. :)

Going to El Paso Jan 6 -10th or 11th

Six hours from Santa Rosa, NM to Balmorhea, TX.... going 80 in a 60 speed zone. That also takes into account gas/bathroom breaks and getting pulled over by NM state police. :blinking: It would be closer to drive to the Sea of Cortez or back to California to go diving. You're still a good 10 -...

    Tech 1 Limits

It's purely to satisfy individual life insurance policies. There were some pretty indepth discussions a few months back on the quest list about peoples life insurance companies not covering them because they were diving beyond the limitations of their highest level of diving certifications...

Who in Texas is diving a dry suit.......

TLS 350 for my primary suit Mobbys Armor Shell for my backup suit Dive year round. The area lakes get down to the 40+/- during the middle of winter. I dive dry year round unless it's warm enough for a 3mm suit, which is 70 degrees and higher for run times of an hour. I get chilled in a 3mm...

    Blue Hole Oct 17th~18th

Ron makes a good underwater scooter. It takes away some of the envy I have for not owning an X.... I think I'm going to box Ron up and ship him to Tahoe next year for the Tahoe Benchmarks. ;) ... I'm pretty sure he can outrun that Cuda that's on the market. :D Thanks for helping conserve some...

How about a RMO get-together at Blue Hole !

I'm running in the race for the cure on Sept 26, but thinking about diving on the 27. Then I'm out of town the first two weekends in October and will probably be diving in Santa Rosa on the third weekend. :) It's almost that time of the year where finding free weekends are tough to schedule...

The bottom example is the newer one. I have the older system (top example). I've never used the newer system.

What's the point of GUE Factors?

Erm, No. It's been a while since I've read the Fundamentals of Recreational Diving book, but when I took the fundamentals class, it was just called tank factors, with nothing about it being a GUE concept. I think that you will find very little where GUE claims owner ship over an application of...

What's the point of GUE Factors?

Tanks factors are SUPER easy and can be done on the fly. For example: Last weekend, I was diving with three other guys and all of us had different tank sizes. One guy had double HP 120's, the other had double LP 108's, the other had double AL80's, and I had double LP72's. We were sitting on the...

It's never just diving with a UTD instructor. :)

Good point. I asked George if I would need to take a Intro to Tech class before jumping into the Tech 1 program. He said that it wouldn't be necessary since I had taken Fundamentals and that he was familiar with my training background since I took it with Rob. George has trained with Rob and...

It's never just diving with a UTD instructor. :)

Honestly, I think it's going to be more about the instructor than the agency itself. I like what GUE stands for as far as conservation and education. UTD is more of a traditional training agency and much less centered around conservation outreach programs. You couldn't go wrong with George...

It's never just diving with a UTD instructor. :)

I think that I'm going to like them a lot more after I get them trimmed out better. It should only take a couple more dives. You'll have to come out with us one weekend. :)

It's never just diving with a UTD instructor. :)

Jason and I met up with George Watson and his Tech 1 student (Stephen) this past weekend, with the idea to dive and talk about UTD and the classes that he is able to teach. Little did we know that George had some other plans for us. His student was solo this weekend because his team mates bailed...
