    Determining the future of DIR

How many stage bottles does a typical RB80 exploration dive use and at what point does managing all those bottles become unwieldy? I understand that their are safety bottles placed through out the system during a dive, but what about bottles that are actually used during a dive? That's the point...

    Determining the future of DIR

I assume that you're referencing the 70' bottle? I know that my UTD CCR team mate does, infact, carry the same gases as the rest of the team. He may not use them, but he does carry them.

    Determining the future of DIR

The only electronics are the PPO2 monitors (Handset fails, who cares - It's typically not checked underwater anyways, so it most likely won't be noticed underwater. If the HUD fails, you go OC and make your ascent), There is an O2 and diluent addition block with QC6 connectors to jack in O2 or...

    Differences in Ratio Deco

I'm not going to make assumptions to John's class, but in ours, we didn't make any profiles like that. We've averaged 130', but max depth is typically 140ish and usually one a couple minutes. Here would be a pretty typical T1 profile for us: We've also done 130' for 40 minutes, but...

    Determining the future of DIR

DIR will most likely always have ties with WKPP and specifically George Irvine. To me, it has completely outgrown all of that and is more about a philosophy of team work, standard gear configurations, and standard procedures of how a team should operate. Fundamentally it revolves around the team...

    Differences in Ratio Deco

We are almost certain that one of the divers (has been bent twice - as far as I'm aware it's been after doing his second T2 dive of the day - John can acknowledge or discredit this though) that you mention has a PFO or some other physiological defect that prevents him from completing a...

    TDI or PADI?

We must have been on the same dive. I too, have experienced this same thing.

Years Tech diving? Hm, Certified through TDI in 2006. I really wasn't doing the dives as I didn't feel prepared. Did UTD Tech 1 last year and about to start UTD Tech 2. I'm diving on the bleeding edge of the Tech 1 boundaries as it is. So really, less than a year of actually doing the dives...

    high altitude diving

I wrote a calculator several years ago. SecurityGeek.Net I personally don't compensate for altitude on my dives.

    Moving your wife to DIR?

Removing the padding and air trapment that a traditional jacket BCD provides will eliminate some of the weight. She may be able to drop down to 8lbs or so, but putting even the 8lbs (4 on each side) on her waist may make trim difficult. Adding a 6lbs back plate with 2 - 4 lbs would help...

    DM Map

I did my map about four years ago. My dive buddy and I ran a line that was knotted every ten feet due north and south and used that as our main segment. We took depth readings at each knot. We then did two arm spans (guesstimated it to be about 10') from the knots east and west, and took depth...

Report: Rocky Mountain UTD Mapping Project

Get it knotted, buddy! We're going to be busy next month! Even if you don't want to do dives below 100', we have plenty to do and we may end up doing a couple LONG 100' dives to get the second half of the 100' contour. :) -- Think cave filled 108's for a 50ish minute bottom time. ;) We haven't...
