physics question, air pressure in cave

The trapped air pressure would be equal to the "at depth" water pressure. Adding air to the trapped air in the pocket would displace more water, equilibrium will occur. Chances are that since the air is already trapped and has not dispersed, there is no where for it go except in solution in the...

    November Crew

I'm solo… 11/15 - 11/22. Occidental Grand. No dive plans yet, but will probably use Aldora. There is supposed to be a dive op at the hotel and will check them out. Anyone wanting an experienced sidekick, let me know..

Diver denied treatment at a Chamber in Panama City...

I haven't read through the entire thread... may have been addressed already ----- BUT involving "law makers" with anything will be risking a whole bunch of legislation regulation with little or no productive result in dealing with the issue. Legislation to provide DC's in diving localities...

    How to store a pony....stable

There is the issue of a fire to be considered. I have a bunch of tanks and a compressor. All the aluminum tanks I leave at or about 3-500psi, since I use pony and stage, and I don't fill until I know the mix for the upcoming dive. I also don't fill them and leave them for long periods of time so...

what do you think about a light mount on a camera pole?

I have a JBL 3 section spear pole (with the middle section removed) on which I mount an angle bracket that holds the camera and the corded light head. The battery pack (with the light switch) mounts on my pack belt and a surgical tube holds the cord loop to the pole. the light head clips...

black plastic end cap on first stage missing

I take the end (intermediate pressure adjustment screw) caps off and leave them off my ScubaPro MK17 and MK25 regulators just to insure there is no crap under it to absorb salt. The ones with Yoke are the "Highly Polished" models without the dork yoke plastic on it to hide corrosion. Anyone who...

No such thing as a Pony Bottle

Uh... I don't need company on the dive, I need redundancy. The only way I would end a dive is to help someone back to the surface. My air is always within arms reach, always dependable and does not need their dive interrupted by my failure. My pony is my buddy unless I'm side mounted, and then I...

You want to do 2days or 4days of diving?

Like I tell my wife... A vacation is to do, no to be. Drinking and chit-chat is something you never have to leave home for. I'm sure his friends and family can do without his presence for all day, every day that you can dive. Foul weather and bad visibility is for the opportunity to chit-chat.

No such thing as a Pony Bottle

Ditch the pony, since that seems to be a peeve of his. Show up side-mounted with a couple 100's and see what he has to say about that. Them some BIG ponies..

    Argon in your dry suit?

It is more a question of wasting expensive gas than anything else for me. Helium costs money and there is no point in venting it in multiple level dives through the dry-suit. When on Nitox or trimix, I use a bottle for the suit and wing with air, I'm cheap.

oxycheq ultra lite travel plate with a different brand wing

The travel plate has holes in the center of it and the wing has holes in the center of it, it is just mechanics. your wing or any other wing will attach to the "plate". The only consideration is the method of controlling wing "taco" with a single tank when it needs to attach to the harness or...

    Dive Log/Record Keeping

I don't know who started that log book nonsense in the first place. I remember my open water class back in 1977 stressed the importance of keeping a log book and I asked why. I did not get an answer that would justify the time and trouble. I have kept track of my dives since I keep a daily...

MK17 - Gas integration AND HP guages?

It does not matter who the manufacturer is, all the ports - both low and high pressure are a standardized thread and the transmitters are all about the same size and configuration. The ports on the first stage should be far enough apart to accommodate the hose end nut for the SPG and the...

    LDS and Nitrox fills.

You guys that say to suck it up are all wrong!!! If I buy new tires, I don't need to tell them to lub the bead, clean the wheel, replace the stem and I expect the correct air pressure... If I hire a painter to paint my house, I should not have to tell them to prime bare wood and metal first...

New Toy - Airetex 45 w/ CB Nitrox

It does seem a little extreme, but all the controls can be migrated to any other setup. My goal was to make it completely un-attended and portable. Any four wire RV or dryer/range outlet will power it. It will fit into the back of the Expedition if I tow the boat (put tanks in the boat) or I can...
